Jesse & Sarah OVERALL who moved from Maldon with their two children, George & Mary, had a son Frederick bapt. 30th Aug. 1837 in St John, Horsley Downs, Bermondsey, and Jesse's occupation was recorded as a tanner.The family must have moved back to Essex, for Frederick's death was recorded in the Romford district in 1838. Searching for information on Charles Campbell, Goldsmith/Jeweller, who married Ann Mason (born c1806) in the former St. John Horsleydown in 1824. They had children, Charles Christopher, Maria Mason, John Mason, Elizabeth Ann and James. I know Ann Campbell and at least some of her children moved to Newcastle Upon Tyne in 1837. She was living at Leazes Terrace when James was born. Charles Campbell died before 1857. I would like to know when he was born and where, who his parents were and where he worked.

Robert Summers b ca 1798 Grays, Essex, lighterman, and his wife Honor Elizabeth Summers, formerly Hobbs, nee Card b ca 1805 Bermondsey. They had three children: Amelia Sophia Summers b ca 1839, Emma Clara Summers b ca 1846, and John Summers b ca 1848. The GRO indexes do not contain either the marriage of the parents, nor the birth certificates for the children. !!!! Amelia married Charles William Townsend in 1859 and had a large family. A descendant, wrote to me in 1989, and at that time, I could see no connection between us. I would love to hear from her again.

Robert Tusting born in Binbrook and Mary Tusting (nee Keith or Keefe)born in Ireland, had many children, one of whom is my gg grandfather Joseph b1846, father of Alfred b1886. Robert and Mary later moved to Bermondsey, and then Marylebone with some of their children but Joseph stayed in South London. Tusting is a very uncommon name and would appreciate any information on this branch of my family. Many thanks.

I am trying to trace the ancestry of my GG-gf JOHN GEARY. He was born c1835 in Rotherhithe (sic) and married ELIZABETH MORLEY (1/8/1853 St Mary Newington, Surrey). His father's name was MICHAEL (born in Ireland c1797) and his mother's was (I think) CORDELIA. Certainly MICHAEL GEARY married CORDELIA MARY HUCKS at about the right time (22/10/1829 Saint Mary, Newington, Surrey). CORDELIA's Father was SAMUEL HUCKS and her mother was HANNAH ???. Can you fill in any of the blanks? TIA

Looking for additional information regarding Benjamin SKERRITT, a barge owner (son of Benjamin SKERRITT and Sarah ADDENSALL), and his wife Caroline WINFIELD (dau. of Francis WINFIELD and wife Mary FRANKLIN), who were married at St. Giles in Camberwell on 27 FEB 1835 (witnessed by Eleanor WINFIELD). At the time of the 1851 census, the family lived at 3 Horselydown Lane in the parish of St. John: Benjamin, age 38, master lighterman; Caroline, age 39; John, age 8; Caroline, age 6; Sarah, age 3; Ellen, age 2. In his will proved 11 APR 1853, Benjamin named his wife Caroline and his cousin James Skerritt as executors of his estate.

Searching for parents of John AUSTIN, c 1822 and Richard AUSTIN c. 1826, both born in Bermondsey per the Middlesex census. Father believed to be Richard AUSTIN, builder. Family also used the middle name "de Bruno" at times. I believe the family came from Clist Honiton, Devon in the early 1800s. Hi, l have just started looking for information on my grandmother, Rosina Grace Rose (nee Smith)formerly married to William walter Rose, had 2 children Anthony and vera.They married on 5th june 1927 at st.crispins in bermondsey. Rosina's parents are Henry David Smith and Caroline Frances(not sure of her maiden name), they all lived at 35 russell scot buildings, i presume this to be in bermondsey.They also lived in thorburn square and matson street in 1933 bermondsey,Rosina known as rose, she left my grandfather and had another child a girl i beleive by another man(surname of Phelps) and later lived in bromley kent (Kings Avenue/Kings road.She used to run a market stall in catford in the 30's. He was there c.1893-1900, when he returned to Hull to take over the studio there. At least one child died in infancy in Bermondsey. Any additional information welcomed.

Trying to find out more about Albert Charles Daniel THOMAS who married Catherine O'Leary from Ireland at St Olaves, Bermondsey in 1898. Their children were Annie, Jack, Sidney, Mable, Queenie, Albert, Lily and Bessie. He was a Thames waterman. I think his father was John Isacc Thomas who married Mary Ann BARRETT at St James, Southwark in 1872. He was a waterman as well.

He was a manufacturing chemist with shops and factories in Bermondsey,London and Paignton,Devonshire.He married EMILY FAUNTLEROY (relative of Agnes Fauntleroy, wife of Lord Stourton of Dorset)in London +-1836.They had seven sons (the only names I have are CHARLES and FRED) and four daughters.My gggrandfather, CHARLES AUSTIN (b.1850,Old Kent road,London)left for South Africa in 1874 where he met his wife-to-be ADA COXEN( daughter of Capt. Charles Coxen, ret.), and trekked into Rhodesia in the early 1890's. This info. was taken from a book my ggrandmother wrote on her adventures in early Rhodesia, and I would like to draw up a family tree, so any help would be greatlyappreciated! Thanks.
