red mail Syrett - Kersey
Looking for information on Thomas Syrett b1782 in Bacton. Married Lucy East in 1808. Had children Harriett, Sarah, Thomas, Elizabeth, Lucy, Robert, Ann, baby (unknown name) and John between 1809 and 1818 in Kersey. I believe that John Syrett and his uncle George East (his mother Lucy's younger brother) came out to Australia around 1855. I have found very little information on the family. I do know that in 1818 they were given a Removal Order to Bacton. Any information to fill in the gaps would be most appreciated.

My direct line of the family moved to Maldon, Essex.
red mail JARVIS
Does anyone know where Elizabeth JARVIS b 1883 Kersey died or is buried? Elizabeth lived with her widowed (?) sister Emma RICE at the Old Gardens in Kersey(this has since been demolished and a new building put up). Elizabeth never married but is supposed to have run/owned a nursing home for soldiers injured in WW1, but this is not documented and no one seems to know where it was - any information on this lady (who was my grandfather's cousin) would be most helpful. Regards Caroline
red mail Thomas SORE & Emily DRYWOOD
My 2xGGrandparents were married in Kersey on 12/10/1840. His father was shown as Samuel, both were Millers. He was baptised in Melford on 13/2/1820 - his mothers name is shown as Sarah. The marriages of two of Thomas & Emily's children, Ann Elizabeth (b 1848)to Quinton Woolnough on 9/6/1867 and Eliza (b 1844)to George Beckett on 27/4/1862, both marriages in Hoxton, London had a common witness, Jane Harriet Soar whose father was a Samuel Sore b c 1825 and baptised in Melford on 27/2/1825. His father was another Samuel and mother shown as Ann. Both of these Samuels were also millers. There appears to be no link between Thomas' and Samuel's fathers called Samuel ! Can anyone throw any light on all these Samuels who were all Millers in a very confined area?

red mail Mann family Kersey to Essex
I am helping my partner and his family research their ancestry. We are looking for the Mann family at the moment staring with his grandmother: Amy Helena Mann (1912 to 1991) who was living in Harold Wood. She had five brothers: Ernest, Charles, Frederick, Robert and Frank, and three sisters, Annie, Louisa and Lilly; all born between 1903 and 1917, we think. This line goes back through Frederick William Mann, 1877; Charles Mann 1847 and Charles Mann 1822 who were from the Suffolk area, Kersey in particular. We’ve got quite a few other lines coming in: Aggis, Vince, Farthing, Rice, Granger, Martin, Collison, Harris, Ellis, Pond and Powter from the Sufolk, Norfolk and Essex areas. If any of these names mean something to you we’d love to hear from you and share our information.
