red mail Crawford Crowfoot or Coofoot
I am searching for ancestors of Violet Ellen CRAWFORD born Brome Suffolk 18 May 1897 her family had all been born in Brome and I have found them in the 1901 Census. Violets birth certificate lists her father as being Robert CRAWFORD but on his marriage cert. he is named as Robert CROWFOOT. Also the 1891 and 1881 Censuses list the whole family as CROWFOOT. The CROWFOOTS appear inthe Census for 1871 1861 and 1851 but in 1841 CRAWFORD appears. Also in 1851 the name appears as COOWFOOT. Are these trancription errors or did the family have a name change? Can anyone help solve this puzzle?

red mail Page family of Brome & Haverhill
In the 1851 census, John Page, a bootmaker of Thames Street, Kingston on Thames, Surrey, gave his year of birth as 1780 and his place of birth as Brom (presumably his pronunciation of Brome), Suffolk and I have found a submitted IGI entry of the baptism of John, the son of William and Phillis Page at Brome on 31 Dec. 1780. I believe John Page to have been my 3G-grandfather and I would be very interested to hear from anyone who might have any other information about the family at Brome. According to the family, there was also some connection with Haverhill and the occupation of woolcombing and I would also be interested to trace what this connection might be.
