I am researching the history of Hawthorn Farmhouse, Blythburgh and in the first half of the eighteenth century the following names were associated with the house either as tenants or having some sort of ownership: William WHINCOP or WHINCUP, The Revd Mr John GROOME, Peter FINCH, Stephen & John REEVE, William MOORE and Amos FOSTER.

Robert John was my grandfather born 13th June 1871 in Blythburgh. I understand that his father died before he was 7 years old and his mother remarried. He went onto join the Scots guards in 1889 serving for 4 years 103 days at which time he resigned 28th February 1893. He married Eliza Chambers in the town of her birth 47 St Georges Road Pimlico. He then joined the the English Police force in November the same year working for the Bristol City Police Force till 1912. He migrated to Australia about 1920. I am interested in his natural father's background, when he died and who his mother remarried

The above were children of John Eade=Elizabeth Algar; believed to have travelled to London together after Elizabeth's father,John,(widower) re-married Ann Blowers (widow) 15 Apr 1816 at Blythburgh. Elizabeth married a James Smith in Lambeth 1822,it's thought. Any info. confirming or denying this event, would be greatly appreciated; or other info on this family. Ta.

Robert HUNT, born c.1844 in Blythburgh, was a tenant farmer at Hawthorn Farmhouse, Blythburgh from 1890 to 1916. His wife Elizabeth was born c. 1837. His brother Abner Hunt (1846-1917) was married to Harriet Savage (1848 -1906). They were both born in Blythburgh. They ran the Three Horseshoes at North Cove for a number of years.
