red mail Peter Sirus (Cyrus) Campbell of Drymond? - (Drymen - Stirlingshire)
Has anyone heard of a place called Drymond or if that is a known misspelling of Drymen? Also can anyone tell me whether the name Sirus or Cyrus is a name in use around 1830 in Scotland, or could it be a family name or a name derived from a Scots word? Any information would be of use I think. I've reached a dead end on my great great grandfather Peter Cyrus Campbell who emigrated to Australia as a miner in 1853, then moved with his wife and young family to mine in New Zealand, but was eventually felled by a stone that fell down a mine-shaft, ricocheted off the side of the shaft, and hit him on the temple whereupon he fell down stone cold dead. I had always heard of this legendary demise and having confirmed it to be true, it would be sad to lose track of him. :)

red mail DRAKE or GORAKI - (Grangemouth - Stirlingshire)
1851 Scotland Census shows MARY GORAKI (Drake) as the 8 y.o. daughter of John and Agnes, with brothers William, James, Thomas, and Lawrence. Of the three 1851 "Mary Drake" listings, she is the only candidate to be my great-great grandma. The timing just barely works for her to have been old enough to emigrate to Newfoundland, marry and bear my great-grandma in 1864 at the age of 21. Note - Only record here shows her name as "Mary Ann Drake". She married a Roman Catholic Irishman - don't know if she converted or (more likely) her family was RC, which may or may not have been unique depending on the then religious leanings of Village of Grangemouth, Civil Parish of Falkirk, County Stirlingshire. Any help will be most sincerely appreciated ... searching from Canada is proving a wee bit difficult. Thank you.
