red mail Mary Bell - Mary Davies - Mary Fitzhenry
Mary my GG Grandmother's Marriage Certificate listed her last name as DAVIES (born Dennyloanhead, Scotland 2 /11/1823) when marrying Stephen FITZHENRY (born Wexford, 29/8/1826) on 16/12/1851 at Scots Church, Sydney, NSW, Australia but a Death Certificate of her mother Mary (b1802 c) revealed her family name as BELL married to John around 1822 or 1823 in Stirling, Scotland and one female living in 1874 in Sydney. Mary, the mother, came to Australia around 1851 but we can find no record of when the daughter arrived from Scotland under the name of Bell or Davies. Mary & Stephen Fitzhenry worked in the gold mines in Forest Creek after their marriage. They had 8 children with the first Edward (my G Grandfather) born Forest Creek 1853. Welcome any help with information.
red mail Charles

red mail Beattie, Scobie Brown - families
My father JOHN THOMAS MACINTOSH BEATTIE was born 3rd January 1914 at 26 Abbey Rd Stirling. From this point I have no idea where he went to up until he met my mother in 1943 around Warrington Cheshire (was lancashire at the time). It seems as tho he left home rather early in life and no-one in the family remembered or spoke of him. He died in 1992 in Warrington without any info regarding his family apart from he left home at 14yrs old and joined the Merchant Navy. He had a disfigurement to his hand and foot of which I think he could not have joined the forces because of this. His family consisted of JAMES BEATTIE - Father ISABELLA BEATTIE (SCOBIE BROWN) - Mother JEAN BEATTIE CATHERINE BEATTIE ANNIE BEATTIE HUGH BEATTIE - deceased 1985 I would really like to know where they lived before they ended up in Renfrewshire and Lancashire. Any info would help so thank you in advance and thank you for reading my request. Jennifer
red mail Maria Mary Macdonnell (Macdonald?)
I am trying to find any details on Maria Mary Macdonnell or Macdonald who was born on April 1st 1820 at Lake Katherine, Scotland. Maria emigrated to Australia where she married Philip Manser at Mount Bryan, South Australia in July 1857. Any details on her family or when she emigrated would be gratefully appreciated.
Jessie Cassidy nee Drysdale
I'm hitting a real dead-end with my great-grandmother Jessie Cassidy nee Drysdale. She died in Stirling in 1953, aged 82, putting her birth year around 1871. Her parents are recorded as Andrew Drysdale, Woollen Mill Worker, and Agnes nee Smith. I think the parent details are a direct lift from her marriage certificate - she married Hugh Cassidy in 1901, her address being recorded as (26?) Albert Place, Stirling. By the time of the 1901 census, Hugh and Jessie already have their first son and are living on Lower Castle Hill Stirling - she's 29, confirming a birth date of around 1871 - and she had her last child in 1913, which means she can't have been born much earlier than the early 1870s. Her birth place is recorded in the census as Stirling and this fits in with family recollections that she was Stirling born and bred. In the 1891 census, she appears to be living in North End, St Ninians with her grandparents, Andrew and Jessie Drysdale. But I can't them trace her any further back and find her parents or her birth certificate or her presence in early censuses. I can find a Drysdale family in North End, St Ninians in the 1881 census - they have a 12-year old granddaughter, Jessie Fairbavin (or Fairbairn?), possibly her?. I can't find any trace of any of this Drysdale family in the 1871 census, any evidence of a marriage between an Andrew Drysdale and Agnes Smith, or any evidence of a birth of Jessie Drysdale. The grandparents appear to have come from Clackmannashire. Anyone with any pointers as to how to solve this mystery?
