red mail francis gregory o'reilly
I am trying to determine where my grandfather came from and his true identity. He came to Australia around 1917 or 1918 and landed at a port in Queensland. He came with two other men, Frank Loader and Dan O'Connor. He spoke in an educated English voice and called himself Francis Gregory O'reilly from Tunstall in England. He was around 30 years old when he married in 1918 here in Australia and marraige certificate confirms his birthplace but no records can be found in England. He could be a Gregory, not O'reilly. I have a photo of him as a 30 year old. Any ideas?

They invented a marine direction finder in 1910 and this was a precursor to RDF and RADAR. Both were born probably in the 1880's. William, my grand-father went to India and was involved in the electrification of Kashmir in 1909. red mail Henry and Martha Meachem descendants
Do you have Henry Meachem of King St, Tunstall in your tree. He arrived in Stoke from Hampshire (or London) about 1870. He lost an arm in a mining accident and then sold fish from a horse and cart round Stoke. He built a Haulage business from his house in King Street, Tunstall (now called Madison St I think). My husband is descended from Henry's second family (this wife was Laura) and I would be glad to hear from anyone who knows anything about the first family in particular with his wife Martha - children include Frank, Minnie (became Skellern), Florence (became Green possibly), Rose (possibly became Berriesford), Harry (youngest)
