red mail COX Sedgley Staffordshire (West Midlands)
Hello I am interested in the Cox Family who I believe are from the Sedgley area Staffordshire. They are Samuel Cox born 30th January 1872 who was married to Florence (nee Richards?) born 25th June 1871. They had the following children Florence Lily (Lilian?) born 23rd May 1898, Anne Daisy (know as Daisy) 18th April 1900 who married Thomas Williams, Frederick Arnold (Fred possibility died in infancy?), Samuel Arthur born 9th August 1902 (my grandfather), Elsie May 24th December 1911 who married Thomas Wilkes (not related) but I believe they separated, and William Edward. I believe the family worshiped at Cinderhill Methodist Chapel. I have a presentation volume of The Pilgrims Progress by John Bunyan inscribed “to Lilly Cox July the 8th 1906” Any information on John Thomas Jeavons married firstly to Annie Sarah Male who had one daughter Annie Elizabeth born November 1905 and married Samuel Arthur Cox above in 1936, died 2003 (my grandmother) who I suspect also came from the same area. Unfortunately I don’t have much to offer in return as this enquiry stems from my own research into Victorian Hymnody and I am interested in finding out where my family worshiped and what experience they had of hymn singing. Any snippets of information will much appreciated Fiona
