Rea/Ray and Farmer families
As a result of my last entry about Catherine Rea,my "mystery woman" I was helped by some very helpful ladies so that I now know a lot more about her origins. Now I have another question-on 31st March,1807,Jane Farmer,Catherine's mother, married a John Roe in Wolstanton,Staffordshire. She died shortly after on 12th July,1808,in Lapley,Staffordshire. Her older sister Ann,born 1786, married a John Rea/Ray in Lapley on July 8th,1811,and they had 7 children together.I'm also presuming that they brought up Catherine Rea.She called herself Catherine Farmer Rea/Ray.I'm wondering if the John Roe who married Jane Farmer was in fact the same person (John Rea/Ray) who married Jane's sister Ann? I don't think the spelling differences are all that important as they were illiterate, and the record depended on who was taking down the names.I would be interested to hear from any descendants of these families to solve this mystery.Thank you for reading this.
