red mail Percival
My grandmother was Jessie Hayes, daughter of Joseph Hayes and Sarah Elizabeth (nee Percival), christened in Calton on 26 December 1878. She married William Shirley christened Waterfall 10 April 1869. They emigrated with their four eldest children to Brisbane Australia in 1912. My 3rd g grandfather was Timothy Percival who was born in Sheen but I believe spent some of his life in Calton. In his will dated 27 April 1874, Sarah Elizabeth's grandfather, Timothy Percival, after some bequests to his living children, stated "I give and bequeath unto my grand daughter Sarah Elizabeth wife of Joseph Hayes my house outbuildings garden and croft situate in the townsship of Calton in Mayfield now or late in my own occupation together with the rest residue and remainder of all my real and personal estate to her.......". I do not have a lot of information on Percivals and would love to talk to anyone researching Hayes or Percival. In later life I understand Joseph Hayes farmed "TheWaterings". I would also love to know the location of the house Timothy left.
