Sarah Dyment or Demett was called "of Spaxton" when she married George Grove in 1812 in Stogursey. The Stogursey parish records give her surname as "Demett," but on the 1851 census she gives her birthplace as Spaxton, and the Spaxtonrecords give the family name as Dyment. She lived and died in Knighton, Stogursey. Isaac Dyment, who may have been her brother, was parish clerk for 50 years, according to his tombstone in the Spaxton churchyard. Isaac married Mary Cavill in Spaxton in 1799. He witnessed two marriages in Stogursey. John Dyment, who had the same job earlier and until at least 1809, may have been the father of Isaac and Sarah. William Domett "of Hawkschurch" and Sarah Poole are married in Stogursey inthe right time period (26 Jan 1775) to be Sarah's parents, but unless this couple lived in Spaxton after their marriage, they are not her parents. I am researching Barnes/Barnes in North Somerset. I have recently discovered some leases at Somerset Record office which is leading me to the conclusion that My ancester Abraham Barnes Cordwainer who married Mary Tucker at Long Ashton in 1773 is theson of Abraham Barnes Cordwainer and a Sarah ? and the Grandson of John Barnes of Long Ashton Husbandman/Yeoman. I am still trying to find his baptism and the marriage of Abraham Barnes and Sarah ?. The lease also revealed that Thomas Barnes Maltster was the brother of Abraham Barnes. I have two Thomas's marrying and bringing up families in the area. Thomas Barns married Susanna Oland at Long Ashton in 1737 and a Thomas Barnes marrying a Hester Price at Chew Magna in 1732. I would like tofind which Thomas was his brother. If anybody lives in the area of Littleon, Dundry and Chew Magna would they look at their Title Deeds if the property goes back to early 1700's you never know a Barns/Barnes Will may be hiding amongst the deeds ora schedule may show ownership of a Barns Please contact me if you think you can help solve my puzzle. regards Kim
