red mail MEACHAM and associated families of Whitestaunton
My main Whitestaunton interest is the MEACHAM family. My line goes back to Amory and Elizabeth MEACHAM, who had children at Whitestaunton in the late 1600's/early 1700's. One of these was Henry MEACHAM, bap 1695, who married Mary BASDON at Whitestaunton in 1718. Their son, Amory MEACHAM (1718-1786) married Susanna STACY als PAVY in 1744, Whitestaunton. Amory and Susannah had at least five children at Whitestaunton, including George MEACHAM, bap 1745. George MEACHAM married twice: first in 1776 to Joan RUSSELL, by whom he had six children, and second in 1793 to Sebbera (aka Sebra, Sabra etc) STRAWBRIDGE, by whom he had three more. One of George and Sebbara MEACHAM's children was Samuel MEACHAM (bap 1796, Whitestaunton - died 1860, Corfe, Pitminster, Somerset). Samuel was my 3G Grandfather, and a Stone Mason by trade. I'm happy to share family tree info with other interested researchers, and am especially looking for a marriage for Amory and Elizabeth MEACHAM (sometime pre-1692).
JOHN BURFORD of Whitestaunton
Am looking to find any information on John Burford who appears as "of Whitestaunton" on his marriage record to Hannah Williams in Berwick St Leonards in 1727. She is "of West Knoyle". I am hoping to tie in Burford/Williams families in Charlton Horethorne in the 17th and 18th centuries.
red mail Virgin family
My Virgin ancestors were tenant dairymen and moved around a cluster of farms on the Dorset/Devon/Somerset borders. I have reason to believe that some of them were living in Whitestaunton around 1815 and possibly also 1785. If anyone has any information about Virgins in Whitestaunton I shall be very grateful
