red mail Williams & Aust
My g. grandfather James Williams was born in either Monkton Combe or Combe Down in 1842. He was the son of William Williams (b. abt 1817) and Ann Aust (b. 1817) who were married in "Combe Church" in 1838. James had four sisters (Sarah, Hester, Mary and Ann) and two brothers (William and John). He was a mason, as was his father, William, and most likely his two brothers. He emigrated to New Zealand in the early 1870s and was married in 1875 and a widower by 1885. In 1895 he married my g. grandmother, Ellen Eliza Acland, who had emigrated in 1885 from Littleham, Devon. He never mentioned his family in the UK and there was no contact with them once he emigrated. I am interested in tracing any descendents of William Williams and Ann Aust and also finding out more about their ancestors.
