red mail Burdge
Am searching for Samuel Burdge, born somewhere in Somerset sometime between 1803 and 1808 (most likely year is 1806) who emigrated with family to Prince Edward Island in Canada. Cannot find place of birth in England, but there was a Samuel Burdge born in Brompton Ralph in 1707 and since the family seems to keep the same first names in successive generations, maybe my ancestor came from there. Any Burdge info would be appreciated, if only to eliminate a line of research. Thanks!
red mail Brompton Ralph Families
I have a number of BLACKMORE ancestors who came from Brompton Ralph, Somerset, along with ROUTLEYs, BRANCHFLOWERs, CHILCOTTs and APLINs. To date, I have traced my BLACKMORE line back to John BLACKMORE, Yeoman Farmer, who was born around 1720. I also have some data on a few other families who married into this BLACKMORE line. I notice that the BLACKMOREs have, in their time, owned a number of farms here, including Rooksnest Farm and Winters Farm. I recently discovered that my RADNIGE/RADNIDGE ancestors also came from Brompton Ralph in the 1700s, along with the associated CANNIFORD family. And it appears that my COWLINs originally came from Brompton Ralph, way back in the 1500s when Thomas COWLIN married Justina YEA (1581) - the COWLINs later settled at Dunster. I'm happy to share data with other researchers.
