Looking for the above born 1861 in Ludlow. Listed as Meredith in the census, as mother Maria Hatfield (m. John Davies in 1854) had taken up with Thomas Meredith. John went missing and turned up in NZ. Charles Davies (b.1854) listed Elizabeth as John's daughter (family letter). we're not sure if its the same Elizabeth, but cannot find birth records, etc.

i am looking for where elizabeth rebecca hodnett is buried and date of death, she was henry hodnett 2nd wife. they married in 1922 and lived in variouslocations around ludlow. henry was a jp and worked on the railway,also in various locations near ludlow. he died in 1954 aged 94, his wife was definitely dead before him. i thought i might be able to find an obituary, no luck yet.

Gertrude was born 1902 in Ludlow, parents Thomas Poole and Alice May nee Hatton. I believe she became an orphan when quite young. Her grandfather RICHARD HATTON was an Innkeeper of the Victoria Inn, Coreley, Shropshire. He was convicted of manslaughter in 1878 and sent to Broadmoor. Any information would be appreciated.

I am looking for the parents of my great grandmother Emily Martha EDGE (b Ludlow 1868). I know that her father John was born in Shrewsbury about 1837 and that her mother´s name was Sarah A, born about 1840, but I do not have her maiden name or their marriage details. In addition to Emily Martha they had at least five other children (Charlotte E, Maria, John H, Annie and William R). In 1871 father John was a brick maker and the family lived at 15 Bell Lane, Ludlow St Lawrence. By 1881 they had moved to 3 Lower Mill Street, Ludlow St Lawrence and John was a Mason´s Labourer. In 1891 their address was Market Street and John is listed as a labourer. Finally in 1901, with an address of 2 Market Street, John is a Tripe Shop Keeper. I don´t have a date of death for John or Sarah and I know nothing of their parents or earlier life. Is anyone researching this family or able to help me trace them please? Gareth

Albert Richard YAPP birth registered 2nd quarter 1872, Ludlow married Susannah Emily Morris (daughter of George Morris/ Elizabeth Cadwallader), Q2, 1907 also in Ludlow (6a, 1194). Both Albert & Susannah seem to have died in Monmouthshire in 1954. I have 2 children listed Lillian (b: 1907) and Gertrude (b: 1909). my great great grandfather Thomas Harwood married Ellen Ellis daughter of Richard Ellis in Bham, Richard Ellis was born in Ludlow 1836 , he was one of at least eight children he had four brothers Randell 1825, John 1829, George 1838, Alfred 1840, three sisters Jane 1828, Mary 1831, Elizabeth 1835,all born in ludlow his parents were John 1801 (ludlow) father and Anne 1802 (Norbury). In 1851 census they are living at the spread eagle inn on Corve street and John is listed in 1844 as inn keeper. any information regarding thy of them would be greatly appreciated

I have a marriage certificate for Sylvanus Bowen Philpot(s) and Jane Tristram which took place in Ludlow at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1824. The census gives his birth year as c. 1802 but I have been unable to find it. He gave the name Bowen to each of his children eg. William Bowen Philpot, eg. Amelia Bowen Philpot(s) etc. I have found no marriage between Bowen and Philpot(s). Any information would be appreciated.

Jones of Ludlow
I am looking for any descendants of Robert Jones, Superintendent of Police at Ludlow 1851-55 (born Stafford c.1814), later a photographer in Leominster, Herefordshire. His son, Thomas (b. Eccleshall 1837), was a photographer in Ludlow for nearly forty years. Thomas had a sister, Jane, and a son Walter who was also a photographer like his father. Walter died in November 1909. I am researching the photographic business, and would very much welcome any contact from relatives.

John Butcher ( GT Grandfather ) was innkeeper of the Dolphin Inn and brother William innkeeper of the George Inn from the 1860's. Grandmother's ( Annie )family name was Bridges, involved in greengrocery in Ludlow. She married Henry James Butcher in 1902 in Ludlow and my late father, Henry Malcolm Butcher was born in Ludlow in 1913.

I am looking for data on the family of William and Susan Walker who had five children in Ludlow: John (bp. 6 Jun 1830); Henry (bp. 5 Nov 1832); Susan (bp. 5 Nov 1832); Elizabeth (bp. 25 May 1835); and William (bp. 17 Apr 1838). William Walker (1838) was a harness maker in London where he had his family. His son William (b. 1868) fought in the Anglo-Boer War. John Walker (1830) was a currier and lived in Scotby, Wetheral, Cumberland. Is anyone able to provide information about the parents William who did not appear in the 1841 census with his children in Ludlow. William Walker was employed at the Union Workhouse in 1841 while his wife Susan Wall Walker died in 1839.

Sometime between 1866 and 1871 my great grandfather, a retiree of the county constabulary, took up a position as Custodian of the Castle. Andrew CORDEN (b.1805 at Lawn Farm, in Ruyton of the XI Towns) continued until he died in December 1879, age 74. He was the widower of Sarah FRENCH. His address on the 1871 census and death certificate was Dinham, the street from Dinham Bridge that runs up past the Castle. Has anyone information on which house it might have been - assuming it went with the job?? Thank you.

Does anyone know what happened to Mary Ann WILDE (Or WYLD) after 1861? In 1861 she was living with her mother, Priscilla, and her illegitimate son in Corve Street, Ludlow. Priscilla died in 1863 and then Mary Ann disappears! There are numerous spellings of WILDE, which doesn't help, but I think Mary Ann may have married. Any ideas? Julie
