red mail Lawrence
My grt/gran was Sarah Lawrence (Laurence} parents were John Lawrence & Ann Light. THE Lawrences, the records tell us came over with William the Conqueror and fought at Hastings. It appears they were granted lands in Dorsett, & in Lancashire & on the Salop/Staffs border where William Law; conquered certain Saxon rebel thanes and was granted Manors there by William Conq; These stayed with the family over 100yrs. Lawrences became farmers etc although we note some fought in Agincourt (French Wars) & serving officers in American colony. Lord William held half a knights fee at both Dorsett & Lancashire.
