red mail Abbot
Looking for my gt grandmother Ellen Abbot who was born about 1857 in Shropshire - possibly Little Dawley. Have not been able to find her until the 1881 census. I have recently come across an Elizabeth Abbot - a widow - aged 35 (b. abt 1826) father John Taylor. She married a James Evans, a widower, aged 31 in Wellington, Shropshire, in September 1861. They both gave their abode as Watling Street. James was a waggoner. (They are together in the 1871 census but no Ellen living with them.) I guess this could be Ellen's mother however I cannot find Elizabeth Abbot in the 1861 census'. I did find an Ellen Taylor aged 4 years in 1861 (thinking perhaps she was illegitimate?)and living in Broseley with grandparents BUT the grandfather was Francis not John. Also I cannot find a marriage for Elizabeth Taylor and James (or even '?') Abbot. Any information would be gratefully received.
