I have many references to the various TURNBULL families in the Hawick area. I have Robert TURNBULL marrying Elizabeth WILSON 1849 in Hawick. Robert's parents - William TURNBULL and Mary WILSON. Elizabeth's parents - Francis WILSON and Jean/Jane KNOX. Mary WILSON and Francis WILSON are brother/sister, issue of James WILSON and Isabella NEWBERRY.

David GRAHAM died 26 March 1941 at Greenhead Terrace, Hawick. He was a General Labourer his wife Catherine Kate) ANDERSON died 13 January at 10 Bright Street Hawick. They had at least 6 children Mary 1899, John, 1901, Henry, 1904, Bessie 1907, Thomas 1909, David 1910. Mary & John were born Newcastle upon Tyne. The others in Hawick. The couple were married at Newcastle on Tyne 16 Jul 1898. I only found them in the 1911 census at 51 Loan, Hawick. Where were David and Catherine Buried? is there a MI? Where is David's father John GRAHAM buried? when did he die?. He was a Wool pattern Weaver I have his wife, and Mother of David, as Elizabeth (Bessie) Graham died 14 March 1915 at 9 Melgund Place, Hawick. Helen or Nellie MITCHELL died 23 Nov 1928 at 4 Melgund Place, Hawick her husband was William DICKEY, an Army Supply Corps. Cororal when the married 27 March 1909. he was based at Stobs Castle. 1911 census he is still a corporal living at 6 Dickson Street, Hawick. William remarried at Euphamia McNAUGHT or JOHNSON. He died 28 May 1960 at 21 Renwick Terrace, Hawick. 1911Census he was born Ireland. his parents William John DICKEY a Yarn Dresser and Sarah Agnes GLOVER both alive 1909. Helen or Ellen or Nellie's father and Mother James and Agnes Veitch were living at 4 Dickson Street, Hawick. They were married 1898, on the Twentysixth day of August at 35 Eastgate, Peebles. Agnes MITCHELL ms VEITCH died 28 Sept 1928 at 4 Melgund Place, Hawick her husband James remarried a Katie RAE or ELLIOT. He died 4 Sept 1956 at the Cottage hospital, U/r 20 Allars Crescent, Hawick. Looking for information Peter Connor ( a scotsman with a scots accent) who married Rose Anne Alexander and they lived in Newcastle Upon Tyne. They had two children Anthony Samuel Connor and Margaret Connor. It is rumoured they separated (possibly divorced) when the children were young and Peter Connor returned to his native Scotland. It is believed he remarried and had a further daughter (another Margaret)to his new wife.

Schoolmaster first in Ross-shire then spent some time in BC Canada returning in 1916 teaching in some school in Edinburgh latterly. Would very much like to trace whereabouts after 1916 and where he died. His grandfather was also James Gowans, a watch and clockmaker in Galashiels in the early 1800s. I am looking for people and information on the infirmary and my father, Alexander Sutherland Smith,as he spent approx. 12 months there due to T.B. along side Bill McLaren, a man I would have been both honoured and pleased to meet. Hello, I'm looking for information on Peter Scott, who was born in Hawick, Roxburgh in 1796/7. He had two brothers, David and Walter, and two sisters. His father was William Scott whom we believed was married to Agnes (?). There is a William Scott from Wilton, Hawick who was married to Agnes Grieve in 1815. Which is much too late unless it was his second marriage. They immegrated to the USA sometime after 1815. Peter and David Scott settled in Canada around 1820. My father Frank Graham Bell was born in Hawick on the 6/05/1935, his mother's name was Mary Hogg Bell and his father's name was David Bell and they lived at 10 Bright Street Hawick. He had 10 brother and sisters (Isa, Robert, Charles, Mary, David, Cathy, James, Thomas, Alex and John. My father migrated to Australia, Brisbane when he was 17 years old. Hoping someone may be able to assist me in some way. I am interested in finding out any further information about my GGGGrandparents Thomas TURNBULL who married Jean VEITCH (b.1791, Cavers) in 1813 (although so far I have not been able to come up with a definite marriage date and place / nor both deaths / or a birth for Thomas). Thomas TURNBULL was listed as a Merchant of Hawick (do not know what type of Merchant he was). I do not know anything about his parentage or if he had any brothersor sisters. However I did find the birth/ch. listings of their 3 children: (Elizabeth Turnbull - b.16 Feb 1816) (George Turnbull - ch.2 April 1818) (Jane Elliot Turnbull - b.23 March 1820) (All 3 were born in Hawick, Roxburghshire, Scotland.) (Do not know if the 2 daughters married.)
