red mail Patrick Shannon born about 1846-7 in Roscommon
I am looking for Patrick SHANNON, born in Strokestown about 1846-7. He was sent alone to relatives in Liverpool at a very young age. He travelled in the company of a man who may not have been his immediate family, maybe called HANLEY or HANLON. His father Martin SHANNON is presumed to have died during the famine. He stayed living in Old Swan, Liverpool. In 1870, he married Elizabeth YOUNG (born in Roscommon about 1852) in St Oswald's Church, Old Swan. Her father was James YOUNG , born about 1825. Her mother was Mary YOUNG , nee PIGOTT, born about 1825. They had children Martin (born about 1872), Thomas (born about 1874), John (born about 1877), James (known as Jasper, born about 1879), Patrick (born about 1881). They all lived in Old Swan. In the 1881 census, taken in May, Patrick, Elizabeth and the children were living in Widnes, but by December 1881 when baby Patrick was born they were back in Liverpool and living in Queen Street, Old Swan. This is the last information we have regarding Patrick SHANNON from Roscommon. He was not found on later censuses, and was never found in the death notices. Elizabeth YOUNG remarried in about 1904. There were rumours that Patrick returned to Roscommon, or emigrated to America. We have the marriage certificate of Patrick and Elizabeth, and DNA details from his great-grandson. Any information appreciated.

red mail Flanagan of Roscommon
My Great Grandmother, Margaret Cecily Flanagan was born c1876 in Roscommon according to her immigration records. She arrived in Queensland in 1899, aged 24 years on the ship Jumna, out of Kent for Brisbane. She was described as single, and a Roman Catholic domestic servant who could read and write. To make things a little more complicated her marriage and death certificates both give her place of birth as Preston, Lancashire. Parents are listed as Michael Flanagan and Tara (or Lara) Elliott. I have no other information about her life before she came to Australia. Would love to learn more. Denise

red mail John Kilcline
Hi, I am trying to find information about my granddad called John Kilcline, he was born in Roxboro, Roscommon to Patrick Kilcline and Eleanor Oats on 13th November 1870, I know from the UK census files that the family had moved to Clay Cross in Derbyshire by the 1881 census (even though the spelling is KILCLOYNE) i know it is them, BUT..... no John his sister Ann is there with a stated birthplace as Ireland but John (B:1870), James (B: 1869), Michael (B:1871), Patrick (B:1873) are not on the 1881 UK census, so my burning question is....Where were they? John (my granddad) show up in a 1901 UK census as John Clyne and then again in 1911 UK census as John Cline (my dad William Kilcline is also on that census, as he was born in 1910) but his original birth certificate (which i have) shows him as William Kilcline, same parents, same address, everything fits.

Have found a shipping entry leaving Liverpool October 21 1854 aboard the Henry Winch, arrived Australia February 1855. Ann married August 1855 to James Clarke from Bedfordshire that same year and together produced 10 children. Aboard the Henry Winch there were only 5 passengers.
