The John McLaren family lived in Mercer Street, Kincardine for the 1841 census. His wife was Elizabeth, known as Betsie. One of the children of that family was my great-grandfather. I am trying to unravel the history of this family, and his forebears. Daniel emigrated to New Zealand, the other children all remained in Scotland. Daniel has many descendants in New Zealand. That part of the tree is almost fully known. Do you know anything of this family either in Scotland or NZ? Would like to hear from you. Thanks

My father John Chalmers,b. 1921, now deceased, was brought up by his grandmother McPherson in the cottage known as Carrie on the outskirts of Rannoch village at Rannoch School. However, I am short on hard facts and would love to hear from anyone who knows more and / or has appropriate locally based knowledge relating, especially, to the eighteenth century history of Little Dunkeld.

red mail Meigle and Thomas Lynch - (Meigle - Perthshire)
I'm trying to find out anything about Thomas Lynch, born around 1833, who according to his grand-daughter Agnes Barrowman (told to my mother, also his grand-daughter, 20 years ago) is likely to have been born or raised in or around Meigle. He had a long-standing relationship with Margaret Cassidy, possibly also known as Margaret Lowe, and probably from Angus (or possibly also Meigle) though their children were born in Glasgow. Also of course Meigle is a wonderful place of Pictish stones... Any info, please?

red mail Robertson - (Meigle - Perthshire)
I am looking for information about Elizabeth Robertson who married my great grandfather Francis William (or William Francis) Hardie in Meigle on 13th February 1866. I am not certain that she was born in the village but must have lived in the vicinity. Her father was Charles Robertson who was dead before 1866 and her mother was Agnes Robertson. Elizabeth was in domestic service in Edinburgh before her marriage but I don't know when or why she left the village. After her marriage she lived with my great grandfather in Haddington where she died in 1872. They had one daughter and one son. It is possible that both she and my great grandfather were buried in Meigle. My great grandfather subsequently remarried. I am descended from his second wife but am still interested in tracing this part of his life story. Any information would be most welcome
