red mail Baldwin
Hello. I am looking for any local information concerning the family BALDWIN from the 1600s and earlier. I believe that my ancestor there was Thomas BALDWIN, a blacksmith, born in 1657, died in 1731, married to Ann LAMBSON. I believe that he and 2 brothers, Francis and John, emigrated to the Pennsylvania in the US in 1683.His father was probably William and his mother Mary DAVES. Any information which would assist in extending this line appreciated. Jerry

red mail william robinson
I am researching the above, born 1809 Hook Norton, married Mary Amos of Chipping Warden and moved there; was a blacksmith. Name was spelled ROBERSON, of whom there are many at Enstone. Were the two villages connected?
I'm looking for the birth or baptism of Emma FRANCIS who was my g/g/grandmother. In 1863 she married James HAWKES of Middleton Cheney, Northants, and her marriage certificate has a blank instead of her father's name thus suggesting she was illegitimate. In the 1871-1901 censuses her birthplace was given as Hook Norton and her stated age means that she would have been born about 1836, but there seems to be no mention of her in the Hook Norton register for that period or in the 1841/51 census. However in the 1841 census listing for Banbury workhouse appears an Ann Francis age 8 with her mother Elizabeth Francis and siblings Jane (age 5) and John (3), no mention of a father. can anyone help me with a baptism of an Emma Francis in about 1836 in this area?
