My great-grandmother was Bertha Kite (sometimes spelled Kyte or Keyte) born in Epwell in 1862, the daughter of George Kite (born Epwell 1834) and Mary Hitchman. I think George was the son of Thomas born Epwell 1811. Anyone with connections to this family?
red mail Kite of Epwell
My ancestor William Kite married Elizabeth Bird in Epwell 16 March 1804. He was not born in Oxfordshire according to the 1840 census but died in 1844 age 68 (born circ 1776) according to the stone in the churchyard. We have not been able to trace him further back. There was a William Kite born at Burmington, Nr Shipston on Stour 17 Jan 1773 but we cannot prove it was him! Was he brother of John who married Martha Alcock 24 Oct 1799? His son Daniel one of his 7 children was my 2 x Gt grandfather and moved to Adderbury with his wife Ann Hancock where he died in an accident in 1867.
