red mail Souch Family Of Chadlington
The earliest SOUCH traced in my line is Thomas SOUCH born ca 1787 in Ramsden. My line continues through their son William who was baptised on 25 Dec 1838. William married Mary HUCKIN on 16 Oct 1867 at Chadlington. Mary & William seem to have been cornerstones of the community, Mary was the local midwife and was known as "Granny Souch" and William was leader of the Chadlington Morris Men in the mid 1800's. William & Mary baptised 13 children at Chadlington between 1868 and 1893 - Frederick, Bertram William, Caroline, Elizabeth, Fanny, Henry, Horace Leonard, Albert, Roland, Hilda Beatrice, Christopher, George Sydenham and William Thomas. Roland was killed on the Somme in 1916 but I have traced most of the other children through to adulthood with marriages and burials recorded in the Parish Registers. Elizabeth & Hilda both married LAINCHBURYs - Joseph and Charles William Price and Caroline married Francis KITCHING. Henry (known as Harry) went to Manchester in the early 1900's searching for work. He appears in the 1901 census living with a cousin along with one of his youn...
