My Gt Grandmother was born in the workhouse in Witney 1845 She was the love child of Ann Brown and James Smith and named Emma Brown.1951 cencus shows her living with James Smith (HATTER) 1861 she is now down as Emma Smith and more children have been born to this couple Ther is masive age difference and James dies shortly after birth of last childHe is in 80s Ann then goes on to marry Gideon Davis and they run a boarding house.We leve them 1901 Emma has married William Packer and moved to Birmingham whre my grandmother is born Ellen Packer would love to hear if anyone has more info on this

I am trying to trace my wife's family - BOOTS. I have a fairly clear line from John Boots + Sarah Webb of Oxford. William Boots c1831 was a tailor in the late 19C in Oxford/Gloucester. He later moved to Abergavenny and then the family seems to havemoved to Birmingham and became Jewellers & Silversmths. The various censuses give them different spellings BOOTS, BOOTE, BOOTH and BOOB

I would like to find further details about my gr, gr, gr, gr, gr, gr grandparents Thomas Hatton and Elizabeth Kempster who lived in Widford and Burford c.1730's to their deaths in 1788 and 1799 respectively. They had the following children: Edward, Mary, Thomas, Elizabeth and John.

A branch of my family lived in Burford from around 1660 to 1902. I have very little knowledge of them except for a few bits picked ip here and there. I know that a Joseph Sperink was a coachmaster from Oxford to Bath circa 1790 but I do not know exactly what that position was. George Sperincke was a Highway Supervisor in 1708, I believe this would have been a parish appointment similar to the constable and overseer. Might anyone out there be able to add alittle flesh to these bones. I would be pleased to exchange info with anyone with interests in this part of the world. See other entries for the name.
