red mail SARAH LAMB
Does anyone have any information about a Sarah Lamb? I believe that she was a house servant, not necessarily in Nottingham. She emigrated to New South Wales, Australia when she was about 23 years of age. She was a house servant to the Jones family around the Braidwood, Goulburn areas. She ended up marrying Jonas Hinchcliffe who was apparently working at the same place. Jonas was a convict from Yorkshire and arrived in NSW in 1830 on the ship Florentia. They married in Goulburn and had about 4 children. He died in 1857. Hope someone can help. Thanks. H

He joined the 83rd Foot regiment in 1814 and after a period of time in the East Indies he was posted to Limerick Ireland where, in 1833, he was discharged from the army, maried Catherine Rourke and settled down. We beleive that he had two sons by Catherine. These boys later left Ireland to settle in the UK. He then had 7 further children by a second wife Bridgit McGrath, all this family remained in Ireland. Joseph was born in Ireland, along with 1 of his brothers (Edward Henry) & 2 other brothers, Francis James & John George, were born in Hawick, Scotland. In 1897, their mother, Ada, re-married Thomas Brown, a miner, back in Nottingham . I cannot trace their father, Samuel Warren, or find a death cert (the marriage cert in Ireland no longer exists). If anyone has any info on Samuel or Joseph's brothers or my grandfather John's siblings, I would be grateful. Also, any earlier info on Ada. In her marriage to Thomas Brown, she gives her father's name as Joseph Hickling, but the Scottish birth certficates give her maiden name as Godby or Godber & IGI shows Godbore. A recent search of Roman Catholic baptisms for Balbriggan showed an 'adult' baptism for Mary Joseph Ada (or Ida)Godbor & a later baptism for Joseph Warren, son of Samuel & Mary Joseph (of the right date for Joseph Isaac). One of his godparents is a Mary Goabirth & a baptism record for Edward Warren shows his mother as Ada Goabirth.Thanks.
