red mail rebecca rollinson and thomas cobley (correction)
Actually, Samuel Rollinson and Maria, nee Nuttall, settled in New Zealand for life. We have a detailed story from a descendant, Debbie Little. It was Samuel's nephew, Alfred Lewitt, son of his sister, Elizabeth, who didn't settle in New Zealand, but returned to England with his wife, Mary Ann,nee Bray. After the death of their child, Ernest, on the way out, they had two children in New Zealand, Ruth and Alice. They are in Belper, Derbyshire, in 1881. Ann Eliza, Emma, Ada Elizabeth and Ernest are born in England. They are then found in Massachussetts in 1900 with six children. Wilfred George is born in the U.S. and Alice has married Ernest Leroy Tucker and left her parents' home. Most of this information is from the IGI.
Florrie was born in 1896 in Kirkby to John Higham and Alice, nee Franks. Alice was the youngest child of Charles Franks and Elizabeth, formerly Lewitt, nee Rollinson. Elizabeth was the daughter of my great great great grandmother, Rebecca Rollinson/Rolleston/Rawlinson/Rolleson. Her father may have been Thomas Smith, alias Cobbley, who lived with her mother from 1841 until his death in 1888. I am trying to unravel the mystery of Thomas Smith/Cobbley, and thought that descendants of Florrie might have more information, as she is of the female line. Kristin, London.

red mail Ferdinand Wright
Hi, I am searching for info, photo's, working life, histories of the men from Bentinck Colliery, Kirkby in Ashfield but particularly Ferdinand Wright. Time..around 1900-WW1. Reason.. I have an elderly relative who lost Ferdinand Wright, a Stallman at the pit, in the No 2 shaft disaster of 30/06/1915. I think he needs some closure on this. Ferdinand (already a widower), was 44 years old and left a young family. I have his death certificate, which only states the obvious 'accidentally injured and killed' and that the inquest was held in July the same year. Any background info on Ferdinand, his wife & family, his working life and pals would be much appreciated, and treated in the strictest confidence. The family lived on Milton Street K-in-A Thank-you
