Please help! Desperately seaking parents / siblings of Margaret Lisgo/Liscow. Born 1801 in Ouseburn, all searches for her baptism in 'All Saints', Newcastle and non-conformist registers have proved fruitless. She married Ridley Smith in 1822 in All Saints. Was living All Saints in 1841 and Cowpen 1851 & 1861. She died in Horton, Cowpen in 1865. They had nine children between 1820 and 1844. There was a Lithgow family in the area around the time of her birth but I cannot link them to Margaret. If anyone is researching this surname or any variation, in this area, please get in touch.

Two other children are Elizabeth and oldest son Joseph Sharp Jr who died in battle of Dunkirk. George Sharp born Feb 1918 was in Royal AF & emigrated in Canada to train pilots during WW2. He wed Jane Browell on 3 January 1846 at the Parish Church, in the Parish of Jarrow, Co. Durham. He was age 25 she was 20. His profession listed as Bottle Maker, both groom and bride were residing at Bill Quay at the time of their wedding. John Nelson's father (John) was also a Bottle Maker.. William Browell Jane's father was a Husbandman. The witnesses were Thomas Nelson and Margaret Browell. I do hope someone can help me track down John Nelson senior and his wife.

Ralph Dixon (1785 Branxton - 1860 Spittal) was son of William Dixon,Blacksmith, and Elizabeth Younger. He joined the Royal Navy in an 1805 as a "Seaman" "on board a Transport". His pension records, which seem to relate to service pre-1806, state that he served on the Doris. In a note - on the reverse of the rough battle plan for Trafalgar - Nelson wrote (about Aug./Sept.1805) "Ralph Dixon of the Transport Doris lost an arm carrying my dispatches wants a pension" , etc. Ralph married Ann Elliot pre-1811 and had alarge family. He was apilot on the Tweed and owned a four crew fishing boat, "Hero" of Spittal. nn died c. 1832, aged 40, during a cholera outbreak. There is a headstone to Ann, son Michael and Ralph in Tweedmouth Church graveyard. ecendant included a Dunlop who died in an air raid on Spittal in W. W. 2 and Alderman ohn William Dixon, who died Spittal in 1943 and who polished beach ppebbles.

Hi, I wonder if anyone has any information on Grace Patterson b.1879 who married William Yule in 1897. Grace is my Gt.Grandmother and was born in Spittal, Northumberland according the the 1891/1901 & 1911 Census details. I can't find any entries of her Parents and would love to hear from anyone who could help me. On the 1891 Census it shows her as living at 25 West St., Tweedmouth, Berwick-upon-Tweed, NBL. aged 12 and being the stepsister of the head of the family. The head of the family shows a Margaret Boyd aged 16yrs and a Labourer manure works. I can't understand how my Gt.Grandmother was living with a step-sister who was so young, where are the parents?? I would be so grateful if anyone could help me solve this puzzle or indeed who knows anything of Grace Patterson or Margaret Boyd. Thank you so much.

I'm looking for any descendants of the Laws family, Northumberland branch. My great grandma was born Elizabeth Laws in 1849 (married Henry Smith in 1873 and lived in Morpeth, died 1917). From their marriage certificate we know that her father was Anthony Laws, born 24/9/1820. He worked as a shoemaker & seems to have died young, in 1861. He married Elizabeth Maudling (b1817) in 1842 at Newcastle Upon Tyne. They had 5 children- my great granny, plus Mary b1844, Nicholas (who seems to have been her twin), Anthony 1847-1912, and Thomas b1852 who was baptised in Morpeth. Anthony 1820's father was probably Jonathan Laws christened 3/3/1779 at Newcastle-U-T, and HIS parents were probably William Laws and Elizabeth Charlton who married 19/2/1776 at Newcastle-and they seem to have had other children possibly another Anthony, Elizabeth & possibly Ann, christened at Stannington in 1789. So far have not found any information about children of any of these, or about descendants of great granny's siblings. Would love to find any other decendants of this branch of the Laws family to get fresh input into family queries....

Hi All, I am looking for the birth/christening details for a Hannah Dunn. Born around 1831-33. Its very possibly I have tripped over a distant cousin. I know Hannah's father's name was Benjamin Dunn and he was a pitman. I am hoping to find out if her mother was called Ursula Lazenby. I searched the IGI but dates available for Tynemouth do not cover this year and the Northumberland Records office is closed this year. Wondering if anybody has a link, or a connection to this family, or has access to any information. Any help would be great! Happy to share all information I have of this family.

Magdalin Fletcher is an ancestor of mine. I know she was married at Ulgham 6 February 1624 to Edward Gray but that is all I know. I am keen to know her birth or baptism details and the names of her parents. Indeed anything at all about her and her family. Is the Fletcher family still strong in the area and are there any Fletchers still living there today who might know about Magdalin (this may not be the correct spelling of course)? Edward Gray was baptised in Morpeth 24 January 1602 and his father's name was Roger.

My ancestor Edward GREEN worked at the paper Mill in WARDEN around the period 1770 (or pre) until approx 1780. At some point between these dates he moved to Shropshire where he leased a paper Mill in Weston Rhynn Oswestry and later purchased it. His daughters TAMAR and ESTER GREEN were bap at WARDEN in 1772 and 1774 respecively. I have no idea where EDWARD was born, he may have moved round the country due to his work but I would be most interested and appreciative if anyone can throw any light on this family. I believe that there were cottages where the paper Makers lived quite near to WARDEN , any info of the likely location appreciated.

George Page born 1838,in Chilcote Warwickshire married Martha Bell,making them my great grandparents. George and Martha had 2 children George James born 1866 in Upwey Dorset, and Mary Jane born 1869 in Upwey Dorset. They came as a family to Canada on the ship Dominion that left Liverpool April 14 1875. I would like to find Mary Atkinson's parents, also the parents of her husband James Bell. Any and all help would be thouroughly appreciated.
