Hello there, I am researching the Bertram family of Northumberland and am looking for any information on Benjamin Bartrim, born 1718 in Edlingham. His father is recorded as Joseph but I have no further data on him or his wife and where they lived. Benjamin may have had an elder sister Mary, born in 1714 and there may have been other siblings born elsewhere. I have no information on their professions and so cannot yet establish whether the family was settled or whether they were travellers. Any help on this family will be gratefully accepted.

My mother was a housekeeper in 1946 on Muckleridge farm to Mr Bell and his son Alan. I was only 5 yrs old but I can remember walking through the fields over the style to Ingoe to go to school. Miss Robson was the teacher then and she and her father lived in house attached to the school. I was wondering if anyone had any information on the school(I know it is now a private house) or any old photos of it as it was in 1940s. Also did anyone know The Bell family?

As part of the friends of Jesmond Old Cemetery we are trying to restore and clear the overgrown graves. Her age on censuses varies so her estimated age of birth is approx.1803-1809. She married James Robson somewhere, but I have not found the marriage. Her ?eldest son is James Hall Robson (b.1826)and so her maiden name may have been Hall.

John Charlton (also spelt Charleton) moved to Lambley (Waffleholm - also spelt in many different ways) from Lanchester (Co Durham) before 1800. The last Charlton from this family that I have traced so far died about 1970 in Carlisle. There was property in Lambley and later in Cumberland I understand. My ancestor was a George Taylor b 1807 in Lesbury. He was the son of George and Elizabeth (nee Stewart) .Elizabeth was from Hauxley. Family lore has it that George the son, had a sister also called Elizabeth and there could well have been others. George is believed to have arrived in New Zealand on a Whaling boat sometime in the 1830 's . He died in New Zealand after raising quite a large family here. He was my 2xgg grandfather.

Looking for information on Margaret Bryce in particular. She was born around 1833 in Meldon, Northumberland and died 4 Feb 1912. Second daughter of Peter Bryce, whose other children were John and Jane. Margaret had an illegitimate son, George Thomas Bryce, in 1850. No father's name on his birth certificate but on his marriage certificate Peter Bryce's name appears as his father. I'd love to know who the father actually was! Also anything on Peter's wife Jane, died 1957 aged 65. George Thomas became a master joiner in Newcastle and married Elizabeth Ann Herriott.

Near to hartley in Northumberland there is a tiny hamlet known as Goldens or Gouldens Hole. My great grandmother Sarah Grant was born there in 1827. Her parents John and Ruth (nee Lock)were married in Earsdon in 1813. they had other children ie Ann and John Daniel . In 1849 the family left Goldens Hole for the durham coalfield after the pit flooded. John and Ruth Grant died at cassop in 1865/64 Sarahs husband Thiomas Asselbrough also died about 1864 folllowed by their baby daughter Mary Ann. John Daniel Grant ,born 1830, in Goldens Hole had married Margaret Brockett and they emigrated to Salem in Utah with their two daughters.John died in Salem in May 1893. Sarah died in whitburn county durham in 1886 .

Hello, I am attempting to locate information on my maternal grandfather’s parents. My grandfather was Arthur Leslie Johnson who married Mary Anne Johnson and had one daughter Ilene Johnson. They resided I believe, in Blyth, Northumberland. My grandfathers Mother was Hannah Johnson of Winshill, Burton upon Trent. Thank you.

Please help! Desperately seaking parents / siblings of Margaret Lisgo/Liscow. Born 1801 in Ouseburn, all searches for her baptism in 'All Saints', Newcastle and non-conformist registers have proved fruitless. She married Ridley Smith in 1822 in All Saints. Was living All Saints in 1841 and Cowpen 1851 & 1861. She died in Horton, Cowpen in 1865. They had nine children between 1820 and 1844. There was a Lithgow family in the area around the time of her birth but I cannot link them to Margaret. If anyone is researching this surname or any variation, in this area, please get in touch.
