I am searching for information about my great grandma Mary Elizabeth Tate, born in or near Tynemouth between 1863-1868. Her father was William Tate and she describes him on her marriage certificate as "Steamboat Owner". I am wondering if he could have been Capt William Tate of Blyth (b.1833) and Margaret Liddle, although I cannot find any record of them having had a daughter so this is pure speculation! Mary Elizabeth Tate married Henry Marshall McCully in 1884 in Wallsend, where they both seem to have been living at that time.

Hello there. I'm looking to track down the death record of Henry Octavius HART. He married Isabella Laughton on 21/10/1851 and they had at least 3 children in Tynemouth. Henry disappears and is not on the 1881 Census but appeared on the 1871. Isabella went on to remarry - David O Gustard. ELLEN states she was born on 1851/ 1861 CENSUS she was born at HEAT COROLINICH. All I can find is the mother was called MARGARET ????. Margaret who; where was the marriage: and I can not find out about HEAT COROLINICH. Is it a miss spelled name or was her father abroad at the time of her birth.{been on gooogle}for this no luck. Rook family
In the 1861 census there is an entry for 10 Camden Lane, Tynemouth containing Elizabeth Ann Rook aged 2. Margaret Rook (mariner's wife) aged 33 and born in London also Margaret Rook aged 11 born in Tynemouth. By the time we get to the 1871 census young Elizabeth is living with her grandfather in London so I presume that by this time her mother had died. Her father's name was Joseph. I then found an entry that a Joseph Rook married in Tynemouth in the December quarter of 1877. Further, in the 1881 census for Tynemouth we find a Joseph Rook seaman aged 50 living at 69 Queen Street with his wife Thomasina aged 40 who was born at North Shields and daughters Mary Organ and Jane Organ. Really interested in these Rook families.

Hi all I have traced my Chater ancesters back to tynemouth in the early 1800s. WILLIAM CHATER 1835c born Seghill,Northumberland he was a blacksmith. He was married in 1857 Sunderland to Mary Ann Briggs b Broomside, Durham. His parents were: VIOLET ADDISON 1806 Northumberland Hawxley WILLIAM CHATER 1806c also a blacksmith. There is a marriage of William Chayter and Violet Addison in Wallsend 25 May 1828. William Chater 1806c died in 1841 in Tynmouth his wife went on to remarry, but they had the following children as seen in the 1841 census: 1841 CENSUS Seghill Violet Chater, 35, pauper, y John Chater, 12, y William Chater, 7,y James Chater, 5, y Mary Chater, 10 months, y So far I can only place them in Tynemouth in 1841 which is where william died. This is the place his children were also born, I have a birth cert of daughter Mary, MARY CHATER FOR SEPT Q 1840 TYNEMOUTH. I also have a record that may be the grandparents of william: William Chater. Marriage to Hannah Robson. 9th September 1780. In Wallsend. I would love to hear from anyone looking for Chater's in the north east of England, it seems they are scatterd all around Northumberland in the later 1800s, also the name has been often spelt as Chaytor, and Chator. As a decendent my maiden name was Chaters. If anyone has any information that they think may help going further back please contact.

I'm looking for my grandfather, Archibald Elliot Parkinson. There does not appear to be any trace of him in the 1901 Census. The know facts are: In 1909 he was in Simonstown, South Africa and at that time still single. By 1914 he was married to Florence Constance Valentine Fenn and was a Corporal in the Royal Artillery. This was also the year my father, Archibald Thomas Parkinson was born and they were at the Garrison in Sheerness. In 1918 I believe he was in Swanley, Eastchurch, Isle of Sheppey. For the period 1919 to 1924 he was in Singapore with my grandmother and father. I know they also spent some time in India, Pakistan and Ceylon. By 1941 he was a Major and also a Freemason. I have a letter in which it states that the Priory Lodgein Tynemouth knew the family well. Can anyone help and fill in some of the missing details? Then I can start on my grandmother!!
