red mail Sheephirst, Rothbury, Northumberland 1776
Kia ora I am searching for a map that would show a farm near Rothbury, named Sheephirst. My 5x g-grandparents in their daughter Sarah's baptism in 1776 apparently came from there: 1776 April 16 Sarah daughter of Ralph BRADY and Ann his wife of Sheephirst Peak Although the transcription states Sheephirst Peak I haven't found any record at this stage of there being a Peak with this name around Rothbury. I also read Sheephirst was in the Rothbury Forest area. According to the Northumberland Farm Directory of 1820 it was in Lee Ward, Rothbury. Does anyone have any information regarding this farm, please? Jeni

Thomas and Jane later married and moved back to Rothbury. Records show that Thomas died in Rothbury in 1849. Any information would be appreciated.
red mail Maria Charlton - John Dixon
I'm researching my family. Maria Charlton is said to be born in Bates Cottages, born 1834. Is that close to the Scottish Border, because some family lists it as Scotland. She married John Dixon. John Dixon was born in Earsdon. He was a coal miner. Later they lived in West Wylam. The family emmigrated to Philadelphia about 1883. They were devout Methodists. Family lore talks of some relationship between the Charltons and a Lord Witherington (Widderington?). Also about a castle that burned down. Also about the Charltons being a family of ship builders. I welcome any information or leads. Thank you.

red mail Looking for Eliza Boak ( Bolk)
Eliza Boak married Edward McLean in Sydney on the 9th November 1847. (Edward's 2nd marriage) There are no records of either her birth or death. Their marriage certificate has her name as Bolk, whilst the baptism certificate of her daughter - Mary Jane, it is listed as Boak. There were no Bolk/Boak witnesses at the wedding. The writing on the certificate seems to be the same throughout, indicating that neither actually signed the document - maybe they couldn't write! Eliza has eluded all attempts to find out where she may have come from. Help needed b

I have tried for over a year now to find the parents of my GG Grandfather. His name is Robert Boak, born Rothbury 1828/29 who married Elizabeth Mitchinson in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1851. His marriage certificate shows his father as 'Robert Boak, Farmer' who I have never found. Was Robert illigitimate and the Robert Boak, Farmer invented? If anyone has access to the Rothbury Parish Records for the 1828/29 period could they please do a look up for me - or offer any advice. Best wishes. Vivian
