John Kennedy is listed on his marriage at Haltwhistle to Dorothy Armstrong in 1719 as being born in 1690 and living at Allolea at time of marriage. I can find no birth for John around that time I have called the records office at Woodhorn who have no records for that time until 1691. Does anyone have information on John as I have exhausted all Geaneology sites for this man but find nothing before his marriage.

I'm trying to find the parents of my ancestor William Bell who married Ann Elliott in 1745. He is said to be of Kellah near Haltwhistle and was born c. 1708. Ann's parents were most probably John and Elizabeth Elliott of Ulgham. William and Ann had a large family. Two of their sons, Thomas and William, went into partnership in woollen manufacturing in Haltwhistle and continued in this enterprise until 1826/7, after which time the mill was rented out to William Madgen. Anyone with any knowledge of my grandfather's first wife, Lizzie (Elizabeth) Bell from Haltwhistle? Born approx 1887 and died of influenza/pneumonia in 1918. Her father's name was Robert Gibson Bell, a miner and her husband (my grandfather) was Robert Waugh, also a miner. Her family are also believed to have had a market garden in the area.

There seems to be a number of families in Haltwhistle with the Thompson surname. I have searched for years for my late husband's maternal great grandparents without any success. Do any of the current residents have any knowledge of a family who were either quarrymen or miners who moved to Scotland in the early 1900's? Any small clue could help me to find them. The 1911 census only gives England as P.o B. but we know they lived in Haltwhistle in the late 1800's

I think I have exhausted all possible avenues to find my late husband's grandmother. By giving a problem that ran in the family, I hope that it will strike a chord in someones memory. I am searching for the Thomson/ Thompson family who lived in Northumberland or Cumberland and they had Huntington's Chorea. His grandmother was Maria Thompson b 1877 and her nephew was Frederick Thomson b 1891.. Maria married Joseph Woodward in Cumberland in 1896. Help please.

does anyone have any infomation about Joseph Nattrass and his family. I know that he was born around 1783 in Haltwhistle but in later life moved to Castle Carrick cumberland from there he married a Elizabeth Holmes of Lanercost cumberland from then on he worked around the Brampton area in 1813 until I presumed he died His daughter Jane was his housekeeper at Burntholme Brampton in 1851 this lady is my great great grandmother. I have no trace of Joseph after 1851 and no trace of his parents can u help.

I have traced Thomas back to 1851, George was killed in WW1 and Eleanor's first child born in 1920 was named after him. I am looking for information about my great-great-grandfather James Ridley born circa 1820 near Haltwhistle. He was groundskeeper for the Featherstone estate for 50 years. He had a son Matthew Ridley (b. 1848 Newcastle on Tyne) who trained at Kew and emigrated to Lucknow India to work as the Superintendent of Government Parks and Gardens. Any information about James (spouse, parents, granparents, siblings, children) would be most appreciated.

Thomas William Stephenson is my gggrandfather. He was born @1822 and married Mary Sheraton 7th May 1849 in Monkwearmouth. In various Census he was a labourer, beerhouse keeper, boilermaker journeyman, packer iron ships and engineer. He died 8th Sept 1899 in Sunderland. In one Census He was attending his wifes mothers funeral and Mary was at home with a sickly daughter who died shortly after and her father in law William Stephenson born @1786 poss Corbridge. He was in 1851 a toll bar keeper. I think my T W Stephenson was Bap 9th June 1822 in Haltwhistle. Does anyone know anything about the family? thanks Caroline

Does anyone know anything about the Little family, Sydney and Margaret (nee Waugh). They married in 1902 and had 7 children born between 1911 and 1922. I can find no details of Sydney or Margaret up to and including 1911 census, except for the birth of Elsie in 1911. I would love to hear anything about this family as Sydney is my great-uncle.

There is a house named Maiden Way near Kellah, Haltwhistle. I spoke to it's owner a few years ago and he said that someone sprinkled their Mother's ashes in the garden as she had lived there at one time. I believe that person may have had links to the name Hewitson. If you know of them please could you contact me so I can share information about the Hewitson line.

I am seeking information on Mary Ruddick or Ruddock (born c1811) and her four children, George (my g-g-grandfather - born 1826)), Ann (born 1828), Edward (born 1830) and John (born 1836) from Haltwistle. I do not have Mary's maiden name. According to the 1841 Census Mary was married for the second time to Robert Teasdale (born 1806). George married Isabella Hodgson in 1845 and was living in Alston in 1851, the family eventually settled in County Durham.

GGGG grandfather Henry Armstrong was born Haltwhistle around 1796. Married Dorothy Davison from Haydon Bridge and had at least 3 sons - Cuthbert, Edward and Henry - and daughter Jane. I am trying to trace Henry's parents in Haltwhistle, and would also be very interested in any information about siblings. Censuses show that Henry lived in Kirkwhelpington in 1841, Ebchester 1861 and perhaps Warden in the 1830s. Also where did Henry and Dorothy marry?

Does anyone have any details of a Thomas Watters a farmer, who farmed at either West Holtbank or West Hotbank,I have been to West Hotbank and the present owner does not have any knowlage of the past owners. I cannot find a reference to West Holt bank but it is detailed in reference to a solicitors letter I have. Is there a particular 'land registry', that will have the info. on past owners of farms?.Also how do you find out which cemetry people are buried in the Haltwhistle area. Is there a central registy that can be consulted? My wife and I have been up to Haltwhistle on a number of occations but do not get any nearer obtaining any information.
