I am researching the Alcocks who lived in Woodford Halse and villages close by in the 19th and early part of the 20th centuries. They were butchers and farmers and some worked for the Great Central Railway when it was opened at the end of the 19th century.

Please is anyone aware of a teacher at a Woodford halse school called either Ruby Cherrett or Ruby Randall - not sure exactly what time period but the lady in question was born in 1887 and died just after the second world war so it could be anytime really between 1905 - 1948. Its also possible she ran a newsagents there later
