red mail Barrett Marston St Lawrence And Greatworth
I am the gggggrandson of John Barrett, Bn Marston St Lawrence about 1745. My grandmother Keziah Barrett,(bn Greatworth 1861) came to Australia about 1894. I have quite a lot on the Barretts of Greatworth, and M.S.L which I am prepared to share.
Mary Leapor
Mary Leapor was christened on 26 Feb 1722 at Marston St Lawrence. Her father, Phillip Leapor was a Brackley man, who was a gardener employed by Sir John Blencowe until 1726. Her mother was Anne Sharman from Weston by Weedon. Mary was a poetess, and was also employed in service as a cook maid in Weston working for Susannah Jennens, the married daughter of John Blencowe, whose husband owned Weston Hall. Mary fell out of favour in the household, but I do not know why, and returned to her parents home in Brackley, from where she died and was buried 'in wool' in Brackley on 14 November 1746. I would like any more information anybody has about her.
Marston St. Lawrence (and Greatworth) And The Barrett Name
On 3 Nov 1767 John BARRETT(b. abt 1745) from Marston St. Lawrence (MSL) married Elizabeth WATTS of Greatworth in Greatworth(the village next door)where they both then lived and had four children: two Daniels (who both died at age 4); Amos(b.1770, d.1851); and Amy(b.abt 1775). Amos fathered 11 children and we don't know anything else about Amy. We have quite a bit of info on the BARRETT descendents in general and specifically on some to the present day. Both from Greatworth and Marston St. Lawrence. Please contact me if you are interested in sharing information or learning more.
