red mail willamson and barrett
I am trying to discover if there are any Williamsons still in Snettisham. My great grandfather George Willamson was born there and probably married a Lucy Barrett. There is a family "scandal" because it seems my grandfather Henry George was born in London AFTER they were married. Lucy appears in the Census of 1871 as a visitor in Great Yarmouth. Shirley

Looking for anyone who is a descendant of, or who knows anything about, Herbert Smith, my great grand uncle born circa 1869) son of John Smith (1838 Grimston, Norfolk)) and Elizabeth Smith nee Johnson (1842 Castle Rising). Siblings were Abigail (my great gran), Hugh, Altona, Enoch, Ernest William, Florence May, Beatrice, John and Henry. In 1901 he was a railway platelayer and lived in Snettisham with his parents but had also lived with his brother Henry and family in Warboys, Cambridgeshire in 1891. In the early twentieth century he was a cattle drover for the then Prince of Wales and travelled abroad on several occasions exporting herds to Canada and India. On one occasion he is said to have been shipwrecked in the Bay of Bengal and didn't arrive home for several years. I cannot locate him in 1911 so he may have been on his travels!

I am looking for any information on the Scarfe family in Snettisham. Robert Scarfe snr, Robert Scarfe jnr and his son James Robert Scarfe. They lived in Snettisham in 1700's and James Robert Scarfe returned in about 1825/30 when he inherited a lot of land and I think a brewery from James Miller, who's daughter was his mother. Does anyone know of a brewery in Snettisham around that time? Many thanks.
