red mail Smiths from Holt and Yarmouth
Thomas Smith born @1812 Holt, Norfolk. Mother possibly Mary born 1775 (excise officers widow in 1951 census). Mary was born Castle Acre Norfolk. Maiden name unknown. I would appreciate help with finding info on Thomas' father and siblings and children.I think Thomas married Martha (maiden name unknown). Thomas was possibly a baker/grocer. Possible children: Maria, Robert (my Gt Gt Grandad) , Martha Mary, Thomas and Ann. Robert was an engine driver born Norfolk. His daughter Julia was born Laceby Lincolnshire. Julia Florence Smith married an Ernest Lowe and had 5 children. Had difficult fnding maiden names of wives.
William Naylor and wife Christian had four children in Holt between c1700 and 1707. I am probably descended from their son James, 1704, and am looking for the next generation FORWARD, i.e. James' children. There is a later James Naylor (wife Sarah) with children including James c1776 (my ancestor) but there is probably a missing generation between him and the James from 1704. I believe William (wife Christian) to be the son of James and Amy from Swanton Novers. James (1776) married in Surrey, so later generations were Londoners. I'd be interested to hear from anyone researching Naylor in this area of Norfolk.

just beginning 'over the pond' research; can trace my grandfather's family from Larue county, Kentucky, USA to Worcester county, Maryland, & Accomack county, Virginia, USA. Some family historians have info re: master worsted weavers from Norfolk; Hempstead, Holt, & Baconsthorpe are villages mentioned. Looking for info re: Thomas (1643-1729) & William (1640-1709) Brettingham, sons of John Brettingham, the Elder (1614-1654). William emigrated to Virginia in 1659, leaving a will in 1709.
