Horstead family
Hi, be grateful for any help tracing my Great Great Grandfather, James Horstead. I am able to find my Great Grandfather, Edward John Horstead marrying in London in 1868 but cannot find him before that time in London (apparently he had a brother called Jonas). I have now received Edwards marriage cert and see his father named as James Horstead, occupation Brewer. It is family legend the Horsteads moved to London from Norfolk and there appears to be two clutches of them, in Aylsham and in the Ketteringham/Hethersett area. As Edward was born in 1840, I assume James would be married prior to that date and have a birth year of say, 1800 - 1820? Be grateful for local help.
