GILBERT and BUCK in Blaenavon
I am researching my Grandfather, William Henry GILBERT, born 1890, who was raised by members of the BUCK family, particularly Richard Prince BUCK. William's mother Priscilla GILBERT, died 1933 in Blaenavon, never married. I am also looking for information on Williams brother, James Evan GILBERT who was born in Pontypool Union Workhouse in 1883. I would appreciate any information connecting William Henry GILBERT and the BUCK family.

Head of the family my G Grandfather William Hughes born around 1866 and living at 44 Hill Street with his wife and family and working in Blaenavon in 1911. He is recorded on the 1911 cencus as a carpenter and undertaker and it has been reported to have owned the undertakers business however as my grandfather, his oldest son, Albert, moved away and then died very young I have no information about the family. I am the great grand-daughter of Arthur and Annie Baldwin (Arthur was born in Blaenavon in 1857). He was the son of Richard and Amelia Baldwin. He married Ann or Annie LEE(maiden Surname unknown)in or around 1890 and the couple had three daughters. If anyone has any information about Arthur or Annie I would love to hear from you.
Thomas Underwood - Ironmonger
My 3xG grandfather was Thomas Underwood (born 1826). He was married to Catherine (Kate) Walkey and at the time of the 1871 and 1881 census (Wales) he was living in King Street in Blaenavon and his occupation was described as Ironmonger. I presume this means that he had a shop and was not employed at the Ironworks? If anyone has any information on Blaenavon around that time, old pictures, records of the shops there etc, or if anyone has any connection with the Underwoods, please let me know.

Alfred Farr born Blaenavon 1853 - UPDATED 22 June 2009
I am trying to find more information about Alfred Farr, born 1853 in Blaenavon, Monmouth, Wales - the son of Edward John Farr and Elizabeth Jane Evans (who were married 09 SEP 1852 in Pontypool). He supposedly was killed in the Zulu War (±1879) in Africa. Does anybody know anything about the Farr family or how to find information about those who served in the Zulu War? I have been unable to find any source online. Thank you for any assistance! UPDATE: I not only have found information on Alfred in "The Noble 24th" book but have also made contact with another of his direct descendants who has the actual medal given to his mother after his death in 1879.

Red granite family tombstone for John WIILKINSON and Margaret nee JONES, who owned Commercial Inn, still standing in all its glory in above cemetery also shows the above information.
