Galladean Hill in Newbattle
I have an ancestor, Robert Gilchrist, who was living at Galladean Hill in Newbattle parish in Edinburth County when he got married in 1860. I can't find this location on a map of that period. Can someone help me identify where this was exactly, and the name of the place today? Thank you.
red mail Cossar/Pryde
My great aunt was Jane Law Keith Pryde who I believe to have been the 2nd wife of William Pryde who was born in Newbattle area of Midlothian in abt 1868. His parents were James Pryde a miner and Magdaline Cossar from Newbattle. William was 49 when he married in 1917 and was the Manager of a Soldiers home in Portobello, Edinburgh. Does anyone recognise this family and if so do you know his first wifes name and if they had any children. Have some detail about their move to Australia if you need it.

McIntosh (Gordon Highlanders)
I am looking for information on a Gardiner McIntosh who was a solider in the Gordon Highlanders, on the muster roll of 1794 his age is given as 25, which would put his birth around 1769; his place of birth is given as Newbattle, Edinburgh. When his daughter Martha married a John Davidson in the parrish of Cockpen in 1815 Gardiner is recorded as deceased.
