red mail Edward Taylor 1780-1853
I am trying to find the family of Edward Taylor who was transported to Sydney 1815 for counterfeit. Although I have record of his trial, incarceration on a hull in the Thames and his convict records, I have no clues about his immediate family. Edward was a shoemaker married to Ann (probably Townsend) about 1813-14 but I have no record of the marriage. His son, also called Edward, was christened at St Mary Magdalene church in Bermodsey London. Being a shoemaker with a name like Taylor makes it very difficult to track (heaps of shoemakers and heaps of Taylors!) This family lived in Bermondsey Rd.London in 1814. They may have been ,locals or they may have come from some other part of the country. Is there anyone who has a missing Edward who might fit into Taylors/shoemakers that they know?
