But, she does not appear in the workhouse Admission and Discharge lists at the Westminster Archives. There is no sign of her parents either. Can anyone offer a possible explanation for this or another direction to look in. Were babies born in the workhouse dealt with in some other way? Was there an infirmary involved? WA seem unable to help. I believe that Pryscilla may be the daughter of William Coniston and his first wife Martha (Morton) who died sometime later but for whom I have no records apart from her marriage to William.

Richard was an Admiralty messenger and remained so in 1863 when son Thomas, a shoemaker and widower b 1826, married Mary Knight (b 1842 Bethnal Green). With his father's Admiralty background I've been trying to find him in the Navy Records. If anyone recognizes him I'd greatly appreciate hearing from you.

James Charles SHAW was my 2xggf and was variously described as a cowkeeper or dairyman who lived in and around Oxford Street and Tottenham Court Road according to the baptismal entries of his seventeen children! He was married twice - in 1840 to Ellen SMITH and subsequently to Mary Ann FRENCH in 1856. red mail Lettice White
Looking for any information on the White family. Lettice and Ann were two sisters. Ann was my ggg-grandmother, who married William Henley in Woburn, Bedfordshire in 1805, but probably wasn't born in Woburn (the only possible Ann White in Woburn was born in 1770 and thus 11 years older than William). The family moved to Brighton, Sussex by the 1830s and a letter written by her son John just after his marriage in 1838 mentions his aunt "Mrs White", and Lettice White was a marriage witness. Lettice White, in 1841 and 1851 living in Brighton, was born in St Clements London in the 1770s according to the 1851 census (when she was living in Brighton, unmarried). There was a White family in the St Clement Danes area: William White married Lettice Street at St Clement Danes 1772 - their children baptised there from 1773 included a first daughter Lettice in 1773 and a youngest daughter Ann Maria in 1785. There is a possibility that William (and the rest of his family?) moved to Woburn, Bedfordshire, some time after 1785. There was also a William White and wife Elizabeth in Woburn with a family - children born between the 1750s and 1770. Could have been the same William if his first wife died 1770. Any information at all about any members of this family would be welcome. In return I have information to share.

red mail FIRMAGE
John FIRMAGE married Sarah BANHAM at St Margaret's Church, Westminster in 1802. Have not yet been able to trace where he spent the first 20 years of his life. Their son William appears to have been born a year later somewhere in Kent. A Robert FIRMAGE was christened in St James, Westminster in 1808, he appears to have married Mary Ann CUMMINS in 1834 but know nothing further about him or if indeed he is the same family. John, Sarah & William all subsequently lived and died in Paddington. Any leads or suggestions on this line much appreciated.
Can anyone help with my query about this address please? The time I am interested in is between 1850 and 1861. Was it a lodging house or similar? My great great grandfather gave this address when he married at the register office St Martin in the Fields in 1858, and both my great grandparents gave it as their address when they married at the Sardinian Chapel in 1861.

red mail Surname - GEORGE
I have a great deal of information on the GEORGE family, children of John & Elizabeth (formerly Lutwyche) George who originated from Worcester, but lived and traded as Merchants in London in the early 1800's. I am fairly sure my own ancestor Thomas William GEORGE born about 1813/1814 fits into this family, but I cannot conclusively prove it. If anyone has any information on the following families I would appreciate their help. - 1) John GEORGE (1805) married Agnes (possibly formerly a HOMAN , related to Ebenezer Homan of Fiern Watch, children = Arthur George GEORGE (1837-1873), John Lutwyche GEORGE (1834-1842) & Agnes Elfida GEORGE (1838-1869). 2) Clement GEORGE(1806) married Elizabeth WELLS & later married Jane CROUCH, children = Clement John GEORGE (1835-1861), George Francis GEORGE (1838-1889) married Alice FILMER in 1867, Frederick GEORGE (1842-1877) & Herbert Walter GEORGE (1846-1919?) married Clara HEWITT in 1876. 3) Elizabeth GEORGE (1808-1894)married William EMBERLIN (the Emberlins were Stationers/Papermakers from the Oxford area) 4) Joseph GEORGE (1810-1868) married Harriet BRADBURY (descendants were Beadells). 5) Eleanor GEORGE (1817-1894?) married Nathaniel VYSE & later re-married Samuel ELLIS (descendants possibly OGLE, THORN & COULSON) 6) Frances Sarah GEORGE married Walter BELLAMY I am particularly looking for a link for Sophia GEORGE & Thomas William GEORGE to the above families, perhaps they appeared as witnesses on a marriage or death certificate. the families lived in and around London in the mid 1800's they were Leather Merchants and Upholsterers I have a lot of information that has cost me dearly and taken years to gather, but cannot, as yet prove that our Thomas William GEORGE was brother to the children above. However they have a lot in common - all were born in Worcester, all lived within streets of each other in 1841 in London , all were Merchants. Thomas William's marriage cert confirms his father's name was John GEORGE & the unusual name of "Clement" runs in both families, perhaps taken from the St Clements of Worcester. I have found the Christening records for all bar Thomas William & Eleanor George. The first 3 children John (1805), Clement (1806) & Elizabeth (1808) were all Christened in St Clements, Worcester. Joseph (1810) & Frances Sarah (1817) were Christened in Claines, Worcester. Thomas William GEORGE (1813/1814) fits the gap but I cannot prove it. Eleanor GEORGE (1815/1816)is definitely one of the children as she appears in a later Census as Frances Sarah's sister, but again I cannot find a Christening record, despite painstakingly searching LDS microfilm for both St Clements & Claines for both Eleanor & Thomas William George. ANY information would be greatly appreciated.

Iterested in family where brothers and sisters were, Nathaniel, Maria, William, Henry and John. Possibly more. Do not know parents or where born but probably in last quarter of the 1700's. Nathaniel married Mary Amey Taber at St James, Westminster in 1820 and he was a gentleman and Merchant. They travelled to Van Diemans land and Australia. Maria married firstly a Alfred Bullen and then a Francis Whaley. All appear to have been living in and around London, particularly Surrey as well as central London. Anyone with information about this family?
I am looking for any information regarding Samuel Elliott (born c.1791)in Middlesex, probably in the St James district of Westminster. 1841 census shows him married to Elizabeth (Carter) with a daughter, Mary Ann (1831). They also had Robert (1829)and Elizabeth (1832) who are not at home on this census. Samuel and Elizabeth then disappear entirely from any subsequent records. Does anyone know where they went? Also, if anyone is confident about their parentages then please get in touch. Any information would be gratefully received. Thanks.

The earliest of these that I know of was my great grandfather John Scott Singleton who was born in Manchester in 1852. 'John Scott Singleton-Gentleman'.Does this ring any bells with anyone please?
