red mail GLOVER family from St Giles
Im researching the Glover family who lived in and around St Giles in the mid-1800s. In particular the descendants of Thomas Glover (born c.1823) and Mary Ann Gaddis (born c.1835). Their children include Thomas Glover (born c.1854), Edward Glover (born c.1856), Mary Ann Glover (born c.1860), Bridget Glover (born 1862), Margaret Glover (born c.1867), Ellen Glover (born 1870). Mary Ann Glover married Henry Moore in 1889; Bridget Glover married Francis Henry McGee in 1884. I would be very glad to get in touch with anyone researching the same.

red mail Elizabeth Harriett PATTERSON
Seeking descendants of Elizabeth Harriet Juliet PATTERSON, illegitimate daughter of Julia CARON and John William POCKNELL (the father is not mentioned by name because he was married & stayed so to Eliza HUMPHREY). At birth Elizabeth's surname was given as CARON but she used PATTERSON later as a substitute surname. Elizabeth had a brother John William PATTERSON (born in 1852 at Waterloo) but similarly he was born as a CARON (mother Julia). His father was referred to as John William PATTERSON but this person never existed! However the occupation of the above mentioned real father (ie to both Elizabeth and John) was accurately given as a Jeweller/Lapidiarist on the respective birth certificates. Elizabeth was born at 279 Holborn South St. Giles in the Fields, London on 3/3/1850. Elizabeth married to a John CONSTABLE on 13/4/1868 at St. Mary, Newington, Surrey. Any information is greatly appreciated to clear up the many myteries of this absorbing family, especially old photos. Distant cousins are very welcome to respond too. Cheers, Rob

WILD, George and Edward
I am researching the WILD family of St Giles area of London/Middx. Namely; **GEORGE WILD (occupation Coachmith/Blacksmith) born c1831 in St Giles/St Pancras/Surrey (depending on which census you look at) who married a SUSAN RYLAND who was born c1836 in Maidstone, Kent, (on one census it says Merton, Norfolk??) Children:- Susan - c1858 - St Giles; *Edward - born c1864 - St Giles; Richard - born c1866 - St Pancras; Sydney Sophia - born c1868 - St Pancras; Thomas William - born c1870 - St Pancras; Hannah - born c1873 - St Pancras; Emily - born c1878 - St Pancras. *EDWARD (occupation Stone and Zinc preparer/printer) born c1864 in St Giles, who married a MARY JANE O'ROURKE born 1868 in Dublin. Marriage was in 1884 - Westminster. ** In the 1851 census I have found what I believe to be my WILD family - Address - 1 Crown Street, St Giles, London. GEORGE WILD - head - 49 - Boot and Shoemaker - Hereford; Hannah - wife - 50 - Suffolk; GEORGE - son - 20 - Coachsmith - Surrey; THOMAS - son - 10 - Middlesex. A search for George (senior) in 1861 showed only one George Wild who was a shoemaker - Address - 28 North Road, Westminster, London; GEORGE WILD - head - 58 - Boot and Shoe Maker - Wishford, Wiltshire; ANNIE - wife - 60 - Gloucester. In 1871 I have found the same couple, same address, and same places of birth, only GEORGE says he is 65, his wife ANNIE is 70. In 1881, ANNIE is a widow and living with her son JAMES age 41 in 8 Connaught Terrace, London. My problem here is the places of birth of GEORGE WILD and wife HANNAH or ANNIE. I am not sure if the couple in the 1861, 1871 census are the same couple that I found in 1851. I did do quite an extensive search, and could find no other couple with a George Wild who was a Shoemaker. Thoughts about this would be welcome. Also, does anyone have any information about this WILD family?? Thanks for any help. Lois.
