red mail Saunders Cogan -Shoreditch
I have information on the James Saunders who is your great grandfather, he is my great great grandfather. Your James Stephen Saunders was the brother of my great grandmother Elizabeth Ann Saunders. I have much information on this part of my family and would willingly exchange it with you. Curiously, the very last birth certificate I obtained from the General Register was for James Stephen Saunders as I was trying to find where the family lived in 1871 (I succeeded) to try and find where James Saunders (senior) was born. It seems it was Buckingham but so far my search of the the 1841 census and 1851 census has not been successful. I would very much like to hear from you. This part of the family has many anomalies which have been difficult tosolve. One of these is that Miriam Howell's sister Charity married a William Saunders in 1868 and although James had died the 2 Saunders families as it were lived at 22 Tottenham Road in the 1881 census. This William Saunders was declared to come from Wooburn (Bucks). There are several other interesting facts and the families seem strongly linked to poverty and possibly crime ! Kind regards, Tony P.
