JOHN HUTCHINSON of Mile End, London
I am researching John Hutchinson, a brewer's clerk, of Mile End, London, who was born during the middle years of the 18th century (I have yet to find his birth record). In 1783, he married Mary Hay, daughter of John Hay, a nursery and seedman of Leytonstone, Essex. I believe they may have had 3 children but I have not found any records of these births. I would be pleased to hear from anyone who might have information.

red mail Henry PIPER, hairdresser
Henry Piper was a hairdresser who had a shop in Mile End Road. In 1833 the shop was broken into and 140 cigars were stolen out of the window. His sister, Martha, eleven, was home at the time. That is the last record I have of Henry and Martha and I am wondering what happened to them. If you can give me any information at all ... marriage, death, etc., I would be very, very grateful. Thank you.

red mail Laura Hall
Laura Hall born 1862 in Mile End Old Town married William John Hensher born 1849, on the 2 July 1883. I can find no further information (census) after the 1881 Census. They had 5 children - William Joseph, Florence, Charles, Sidney and Ethel. Another researcher claims Laura 'became' Harriett. Harriett Hensher shows up in the 1891, 1901 and 1911 Census. The only connection as to them being one and the same person is they were both Dressmakers. Can anyone throw any light on this family?

red mail BERKLEY Family of Mile End Old Town
I am seeking info on the Berkleys of Thomas Street, Mile End Old Town. John and Jane Berkley (nee Cripps) were there in 1841 and 1851, latterly with their son, also John, and his common law wife Easter (nee Gillman). The latter two had a daughter Hannah, who died in 1854, a year after John senior. In 1853 also, John junior and Easter had a son St. Leger John Berkley (my great-grandfather), but neither they nor Jane appear in the 1861 Census, and it is known that some records for that area are missing. Jane died in 1864, as did Easter. John junior remarried in Canterbury in 1870, and died in 1880. Does anyone have any info as to the Berkleys during the 1860's? I would especially like to know if John and Easter had any other children - both he and his father John were pipemakers.
red mail Sophia Fenn, Mile End Old Town
Sophia Fenn lived with the Powell Family during 1850's until early 1900's. They lived on Ely Terrace before moving to Bridge Street in the early 1870's. Sophia was a spinster. Sophia appeared on numerous Powell marriage certificates as a witness. She shows as a lodger on most census's but then as a sister in law on one of them. She was born around 1830's and was about the same age as Eliza Powell( nee Ennes/s) born 1827 Mile End. Eliza was married to Robert William Powell( painter). I have been unable to make any connection with the Powell's. or indeed the Ennes/s. As Sophia Fenn appears to have lived with the family for so long and also as a witness, I would love to know what the connection is. Eliza and Robert had several children including a daughter called Sophia born 1856 Mile End.

William Good married Clara Hosier in Mile End in the last quarter of 1905. I know Clara's father was deceased at the time of marriage but would be interested to know William's father's name and occupation and William's age. red mail Harris family
I am looking to trace my Great Grandfather, My Grandfather was Bennett Harris who was born in 1888 in Whitechapel and lived at 127 St.Dunstans Road Mile End. He was married to Amelia Harris. He was a Butcher or Slaughterman, I have an entry for him in the 1911 census but cannot get his birth details. I believe the family were Jewish and that they came over from Russia or Ukraine in the 1800s and at sometime changed their name to Harris Their original name may have been Bagatsky or similar.
red mail Dunn - Murray
I am looking for any decendents of the Dunn Family, Henry and Elizabeth Dunn both born in East Anglia and living in Montague Street in 1851. red mail Chapman in Mile End New Town 1871-1891
I'm trying to trace further info on my Gt-Grandfather Charles (aka Henry) Chapman. He is the child of my Gt-Gt-Grandfather, Henry Chapman and first wife Elizabeth. The 1901 census shows him as 25 year old Charles Chapman, living with his 'mother', (a widow) Jane, and a lodger Frederick Bates. Residence is 3 Arlington Terrace , address which I have been able to link my Chapman ancestors to. However, further investigations imply that Jane is NOT Charles' natural mother: The 1881 census shows Charles aged 5 at 34 Heneage Street, Mile End with parents Elizabeth (38) and Henry (41). The 1891 census shows Henry Chapman (50) with wife Jane (40). Jane is from Repton, Derbyshire. I have confirmation of Henry Chapman (widower) marrying Jane Roberts (spinster) in December 1882. Residence for both is 34 Heneage St, Mile End. I need to find out Elizabeths surname somehow...but so far I have little to go on. I estimate Charles was born between 1876 and 1888, but none of the free genealogy sites give mothers surnames. I don't know what year Henry and Elizabeth married, only that presumably it was prior to (or actually in) 1878. A search of free BMD suggests at least 17 possible surnames to investigate, which I am trying to cross-reference to recorded births in Derbyshire. The only other piece of data I have is that GGG'father Henry's father was called Edward. The 1891 census with Henry and Jane implies Henry came from Hertfordshire but the town/village is illegible - it appears to begin with a K or an R. Any help/hints gratefully received!
