I am trying to research the family of Charles More and Susannah Sophia Southgate who lived in the mid 1800s in London. My great-great-grandfather was Charles More who married Susannah Sophia Southgate on 25th Dec 1863. Susannah was born in 1842 and was the sister of Joshua Southgate, their father also being called Joshua Southgate. Joshua (junior!)was born in 1839, and according to the 1881 census, lived at 75 Raymouth Road, Rotherhithe, next door to Charles and Susannah at number 77. Joshua's children were Charles, Edward, Grace, Jessie, William and Elizabeth. According to Charles and Susannah's wedding certificate Joshua Southgate, Susannah's father, who was at one time a solicitor, was deceased at the time of the marriage. A Joshua Southgate was a witness at the wedding and signed the certificate - I presume this must have been her brother.

They lived in Charrington Street, Thanet Street and Arthur Mews and John owned a cab firm. James married Caroline Eliza Carter and the couple had 6 children Alice, olive(1930), Stanley, Eileen, Jimmy and Jack. Jack then married Annie Cussen and the couple had three children Eileen, Paul and kevin.

Antonio was born in Westminster in 1859 (according to my Grandmother) but I can find no trace of his birth registration. Have found his marriage to Annie Maria Johnson in Islington in 1879 and details in Census of 1881, 1891 and 1901. Unfortunately between 1859 and 1879 I can find nothing. Any help would be most welcome. A Henry Stone was a friend of the family and may have taken Antonio to France when he was young. Antonio worked as a Boot Maker and also a Tin Foil Maker - whatever that was?
