red mail Hounslow Military Barracks 1847
Hi. I am not certain if I am in the correct village here, but I'm sure someone will let me know if I am wrong! I have an ancestor, JOHN GIBBONS MATHEWS, whose son Henry Maxwell David MATHEWS was christened in Hounslow, 7th Jan.1847. JOHN GIBBONS MATHEWS was a Military Man, described on his 1845 Marriage cert. as a Sergeant of Lancers. (No regiment stated, but he was in Dublin in 1845 for his marriage to MARY JANE FLEMING). His usual place of residence was stated to be Nottingham, England. I have not been able to trace anything in Nottingham. I am now working on the assumption that John Gibbons MATHEWS and his new wife removed to Hounslow Barracks sometime after their 1845 marriage and before the birth of their son Henry, who was christened in Hounslow 1847. Does anyone have any advice for me please, how I can track down which Regiments of Lancers were stationed at Hounslow Barracks in January 1847, and any other hints or info would be really appreciated. I am researching this from New Zealand. John Gibbons Mathews & Mary Jane Fleming were my great great grandparents. Thank you very much. Regards, Jeanne (NZ)
red mail Trusler,Lucy in Frensham
I am looking for information about one Lucy Trusler whom is linked to my Elsworth ancestors. This is what I have so far, and may not be accurate. An Ann Trusler (c/o 11 Oct 1767 in Frensham) married a Joseph Dudman (c/o 1 Jan 1764 in Frensham) on 13 Oct 1786 in Headley. Now the witnesses to this marriage were John Trusler and Lucy Coombes. I think that John Trusler was Ann's brother (born 1769) and that Lucy Combes was her sister (Lucy Trusler) who had married John Combes two years earlier (ie 1784) If this is correct then Lucy's parents are John Trusler who was christened on 17 Feb 1722 in Binstead and Mary ?
