red mail Blackford family
My 3x great-grandfather, Frederick Joseph Blackford, says on all census returns in Foleshill, Warwickshire, that he was born in Hammersmith. Indeed, I have found his parish baptism record in All Saints, Fulham Palace road in June 1813, son of William and Sarah. Because of his widely differing reported age on the census returns I am assuming he was born around 1811. Unfortunately I can find no other siblings, or the marriage of the parents. Does anyone know anything about this Blackford family? A William Blackford married a Sarah in 1806 across the bridge in Putney, but I cannot prove that these are mine. A William and Sarah Blackford had a family around this time in Wimbledon, but no Fredericks there. Any help much appreciated!

red mail Drummer/Dummer etc. Family
Hi. My gggrandmother Sophia Drummer (family also listed as Dummer, Drummell, Drummond and other variant spellings) was born in Hammersmith in 1840. She's listed in the 1841 census with her parents and siblings under the surname Dumer (mistakenly transcribed as Durner) on Rose and Crown Lane. There are more than two pages of people living on that same lane with no house numbers. I've tried to find that street on a map, but so far, no luck. Sophia's father was a brickmaker; he was deceased by the 1851 census (by which time they'd moved to Surrey). She had eight siblings, and later went into service as a servant, then as nanny to the Binns/Gardener family; she and this family moved to Nebraska in the US in 1869; family lore says that Sophia's soon-to-be husband (Thomas Coppinger, also migrated from the UK to Canada, then to the US mid-nineteenth century) bought out her indenture before their marriage in 1876. Sophia's parents were Samuel Drummer and Sarah Martin (married in Paddington in 1825). She had siblings: Mary Ann, George Edward, David, Sarah, Daniel, William Martin, Maria Ann and Rachel (born between 1826 and 1845). I'd be over the moon if I could contact someone from this family. I'd also like to know if there are any maps that someone knows of that would include this Rose and Crown street--I've searched high and low with no luck yet. Thanks for any help that you could give me, and have a great new year! Nancy
