Anyone remember Elizabeth / Ethel Cook or Jackson of Harwood Road in the 1940's/50's , she had a daughter Jean (born 1941) and a son, John Cook (born 1944). We believe the children would be related to my Grandfather and have been researching our family history for some time. From our search we believe Jean Cook married to become Jean Harris in the 60's. We are looking for any connection to Jean M Rolph /Cook born 1941 or John Walter Cook born Sept 1944 in Fulham. Many thanks for any information.

red mail Re:John Walter Cook or Jean Rolph or Ethel Cook (late Rolph/formerly Causer)
Further to my previous post, we have established that Elizabeth E (Ethel) Rolph was the Ethel my grandfather remembers his dad having a relationship with (her previous married name was Rolph and her maiden name Causer, we are not sure if she actually married my great grandfather but called herself Elizabeth Ethel Cook on their sons birth certificate. The toddler he remembers would have been Jean M Rolph and the baby she was expecting was John Walter Cook, born Sept 1944. We are aware she had 4 older daughters who were evacuated to Australia during the war from her previous marriage. We would love to make contact with either Jean or John as John and possibly Jean would be my grandfathers half siblings. If anyone knows of any of the people mentioned above or of a way we can find out how to contact them, any information would be most appreciated. Many thanks
red mail 1942- Ethel of 6 Favart Road or Harwood Road Fulham
I am trying to trace my grandfathers half siblings, unfortunately we have very limited information. Their mother was called Ethel and lived at 6 Favart Road as well as possibly Harwood Road around the early 1940's. My grandfather (James (Jimmy) Edward Cook - later married Dora Kester/Thorne) signed up to join the Royal airforce and left for training in 1942 (he would have been 18/19) and he recalls at this time that Ethel had a toddler (girl) and another baby on the way. My great grandfather, Walter James Cook (the children's father) was a merchant seaman and would have been away at sea on and off during the war, unfortunately he was killed at sea in 1944. If anyone has any information regarding Ethel or her children they could share we would be most appreciative. Unfortunately we don't know whether Ethel used my grandfathers surname, her maiden name or indeed a previous married name if she had been married before. Thanks for any help in advance, best regards Laura

red mail Arthur - WW1 Soldier and Fulham Scout
This is a long shot as there's no surname, but I'm trying to solve the mystery of my grandmother's boyfriend who was injured, possibly killed, at the end of the First World War. I know only that his first name was Arthur, and I have some superb photos of him in Army and Scout uniform. I have spent many hours searching the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site and family history sites for likely war casualties, but no information seems to match what I know. Here is the basic information I have about Arthur: Born between 1895 and 1900; Lived in, or close to, Fulham; May have had a brother (a young man in a studio photo with Arthur); He had friends or brothers called Norman and Jim (mentioned in a postcard from Oxford dated 14/08/1917). Circa 1917-18 he was a member of a Scout Troop, possibly Fulham; in a studio photo his shirt pocket has two stripes for Patrol Leader and he has 6 proficiency badges and 1 service star. He is holding a spectacular trophy, a wooden shield with central design of 2 scouts, with engraved labels for details of winners (possibly annual?). 10 April 1918 he was training with the 53rd Young Soldiers' Battalion of the Hampshire Regiment, based at Rollestone Camp on Salisbury Plain. He was living in Hut No. 20. I understand he would have been posted to a different regiment once trained. Christmas 1918 he sent greetings to my grandmother from MONS. This is the last communication from Arthur. Arthur was somebody's son, possibly brother, cousin or uncle. I would like him to be remembered. I am happy to share the photos with anyone who may be able to help. Thanks for reading this.
