Desperately searching for more details of Teresa/Theresa Sarah Walker, born early 1860s possibly Bethnal Green. Every time she appears in official documents she makes herself a year younger, which is making life more difficult! She married Cornelius McCarthy in April 1885, giving her father as Alfred Walker (a printer) deceased. Cannot find a birth entry for her, and consequently no mother's name. Theresa had 9 children; Cornelius, Teresa, Maggie, Alfred, David, William, Alphonse (known as Won), possibly a John and my grandfather Maurice, the youngest born 1901. David or John married a Russian lady named Torsa, Alphonse married a girl called Lil & in the early 1970s they were living in Forest Gate. Lil and Won had 2 boys and 2 girls. Does this ring any bells with any one? Teresa died in 1927, in Bancroft Lodge, Bancroft Road, off the Mile End Road.

My 2x great grandfather Thomas Spelman/Spellman was born in Bethnal Green in 1823, he was a master rope maker, as was his father who he names as John Spellman on his marriage certificate. Family anecdotes have it that the family had a rope walk in Spelman Street. I am unable to find any information relating to Thomas's birth or baptism, and cannot find any trace of where he was living until 1849 when he was in Chatham. I can't get to London as I live in the Netherlands. Can anybody give me any further information or help me trace the family in Bethnal Green. Many thanks in advance.

Remarried later, after G. Lawrences death. Elizabeths brother moved to Victoria Australia (not sure of year) where he owned a large Cattle Property & was very wealthy.
