red mail Patrick Connell
Patrick Connell was born abt 1802 in Summerhill, Co. Meath and lived there until his death in February, 1875. Griffiths Valuation records from 1855 show he farmed about 9 acres and lived in Summerhill village. However a land owners register for Co. Meath in 1873 listed him as "Patrick Connell, Glinn, Summer-hill, co. Meath - 139 acres". The marriage registrations of two of his sons who came to Australia showed his occupation as Farmer. I am looking for help on how to locate Glinn. Glinn may be gaelic for Valley.
I am looking for descendants of MARTIN HEALY who married ANNE SMYTH 1868 in Ager/summerhill. The witnesses were Thomas Murrin and Mary Flynn. Martin's parents were Ellen Flynn and Francis Healy. Martin Healy was a butler to the WINTER family until about 1908. There were 9 children ELLEN born1865, BRIDGET-1867, MARY-1868, CATHERIN-1872 (married my grandfather Richard Marshall), EDWARD-1873, MARCELLA-1875, MARGARET-1876, MARTIN-1878 AND FRANCIS-1879. Some sponsors of these children were surname TAAFE
Lynch Family and Lynch's Castle
My Lynch family were living in Summerhill (S/H) in the 1830'2 until at least the 1880's. Robert Lynch married Mary Costello in S/H on 19th Nov. 1830 (not sure what church? can anyone help please?). They had the following children in S/H: James (bap.1833), Daniel (bap. 1836), Fanny/Francis/Frances(bap. 1841), Robert (bap. 1844, m. Jane Shiels in S/H on 25th Nov. 1886, and Mary (bap.1847). Daniel and Fanny emigrated to Australia in 1866. James also went to Australia, sometime before 1864. Does anyone know what became of the family who stayed behind in Summerhill? eg. decendants of Robert & Jane?, or Mary (who did she marry?)? Also, when the parents Robert and Mary snr. died? and where they are buried? Also, are the ruins of Lynch's Castle, S/H still standing (they were in the early 1900's), and does anyone have contact details for the current owners? Any other relevant info. would be very greatfully appreciated. I am happy to share info. re the family members that settled in Australia. Thanks!
