I am looking for any information to trace family members of my Grandad John Joseph Gibbons, who was born near Westport, Co. Mayo around 1900. I know he had several Siblings of which there was Kathleen and Thomas. The family moved to America, but Grandad came to Scotland, then down into England. Looking for information on Bridget Dillon, b. approx 1835 in Ireland. She married Michael Tierney, b 1828 in Westport, Co Mayo, but we don't know if they married in Ireland, or in the US. US 1880 census indicates SHE came to the US in 1860. He died in 1868, so we don't have a lot of info to go on. They ultimately settled in Sibley County, Minnesota, USA. Last child, John, b. 1868 in Jessenland, Sibley Co. Census indicates she was the mother of 3 children, but John is the only one we have found info on. Thanks!

Looking for information on Catharine Walsh (Welch), who married Charles Tierney of Westport, Co Mayo, in 1848. I'm not sure if she was from Co Mayo or not. Family history tells us that the Tierney family was, though we haven't been able to locate records.

I am looking for information on my gg-grandparents, Felix and Mary Tierney. They had (at least) 3 sons: Thomas, b 1819, Charles, b 1821, and Michael b 1828, all in Westport. Charles married Catherine Walsh (Welch) in 1848 in Ireland, Michael married Bridget Dillon, but we don't know if it was in Ireland or the US. All three sons went to the US during the famine years. We have been unable to find ANYTHING on Felix/Mary, or records on the boys. The info we have is from obits and US census records. Any help welcomed!

They arrived in Delaval, Newcastle, England somewhen prior to 1867, 1881 census gives 6 children: Catherine, Mary Ann, Bridget, Thomas, Elizabeth and Patrick. My grgrandmother was born in Westport daughter of Hubert O'Donnell and Mary Kearns. She went to Bury in Lancashire, where she married William Carman April 14th 1861. William had children from a first marriage and with Susan had Maria b. 1862 in Bury. They went to Durham where William, John, Thomas and James were born. They moved back to Bury and had Frederick b. 1876. With the exception of James, all their children emigrated to Massachussets between 1895 and 1907. I´d love to hear from anyone who may recognise similarities with their family history e.g. Susan´s brothers or sisters. Susan died in MA June 25th 1907 and I have a photograph of her grave.
James FERGUS, a coastguard, b1801 in Westport, Co Mayo Ireland & died 1852 at Torcross, Devon, England. He married Mary (surname unknown) & dtr. Mary was born c1821 at Belmullet Co. Mayo & married John BROWN in Southampton Hampshire in 1839. Is anyone related to this FERGUS?
